The Experience

We need help maintaining my garden and serving in our restaurant. We also need an artistic painter to help with mural work. If you can paint then you do not need to do garden work. Depending on your interests, we can potentially offer various places and activities where you can experience traditional Japanese culture and manners, such as kendo or tea ceremonies. We will provide ingredients that you can use for cooking every day.

I had a wonderful time in Kamigori, learning so much about Japanese culture and many other things. Thanks to Hirin-san I experienced activities like kendo, wadaiko, calligraphy, tea ceremony and met so many kind locals. I always felt like at home and enjoyed working in the restaurant (the meals were very delicious and healthy!) and helping out in the garden. Hirin san is working hard and is organising a lot to make everybody feel comfortable. In my free time, I loved cycling near the rice fields. I'll always be grateful for this experience ❤️

Staying with Hiring-san has been a truly wonderful experience. I'm deeply grateful for her kindness, patience, and warm hospitality throughout my time here. This was my first and only volunteer experience in Japan, and I couldn't have asked for a better one. I feel incredibly lucky to have met her and shared this time together, she truly made me feel at home.

Volunteering at Tousuibo was an unforgettable and life-changing experience! I practiced Japanese daily and enjoyed amazing activities like kendo, wadaiko, tea ceremony, pottery, weaving, calligraphy, cooking, and more, often at little to no cost. Hiring-san is an incredible host who works tirelessly to connect volunteers with kind, welcoming locals and provide endless delicious, healthy meals. Work at the restaurant and garden was easy and fulfilling. Be open-minded, flexible, respectful, and learn some basic Japanese to make the most of this rare opportunity! Highly recommended.
