The Experience

We need help maintaining my garden and serving in our restaurant. We also need an artistic painter to help with mural work. If you can paint, then you do not need to do garden work. Depending on your interests, we can potentially offer various activities that you can experience traditional Japanese culture and customs. (NOTE: they are not a condition of your acceptance ). We will provide the ingredients for your self-cooked meals.

I had such a special experience with Hirin-San. She taught me the social normals staying in this beautiful rural community. I greeted to everyone I met when I walk or rode bike and I still do it in the new volunteer place. We went to local events together, which helped me feel connected to the people who live there. This gave me a real cultural experience that I know would be hard to find anywhere else. The lunches on restaurant days were amazing, and the food provided for cooking was always of good quality. Also,I really enjoyed our tea-time chats, where we talked about our different culture

I had the most amazing time staying with Hirin-san, I'm truly grateful to have been able to stay with her. She really goes out of her way to make sure the volunteers have a good time. I was able to do and learn so much about Japanese culture and meet many locals who are all very kind. If you're looking for a real Japanese experience in a nice rural community than you should definitely come here. Thank you again Hirin-san for having me.

One month that changed my heart. In a place that now feels like home, I found love, warmth, and a new family. Hirin and her husband made me feel like a daughter, not a guest. I lived authentic experiences, embraced a beautiful culture, and fulfilled a small dream: practicing kendo with a special teacher. But more than anything, I received a pure, sincere love that I will carry with me forever. Not everything can be put into words… But the gratitude I feel runs deep. Arigatou gozaimashita. 💛

I had a wonderful time in Kamigori, learning so much about Japanese culture and many other things. Thanks to Hirin-san I experienced activities like kendo, wadaiko, calligraphy, tea ceremony and met so many kind locals. I always felt like at home and enjoyed working in the restaurant (the meals were very delicious and healthy!) and helping out in the garden. Hirin san is working hard and is organising a lot to make everybody feel comfortable. In my free time, I loved cycling near the rice fields. I'll always be grateful for this experience ❤️

Staying with Hiring-san has been a truly wonderful experience. I'm deeply grateful for her kindness, patience, and warm hospitality throughout my time here. This was my first and only volunteer experience in Japan, and I couldn't have asked for a better one. I feel incredibly lucky to have met her and shared this time together, she truly made me feel at home.
