The Experience

Help building a food forest garden involves preparation of the soil, selecting garden green material, chopping it for composting, mulching, biochar and, when it’s ready, taking it to the ground where weeding, mulching, drilling and digging can take place. Watering, grass/hedges cutting, improving walking paths are also part of the garden maintenance. Pool maintenance, painting, technical works can also take place at the working hours.

The farm was a great experience! The tasks in the garden are diverse and the 25h/week schedule is very fair. The hosts are supportive and helpful if any problems come up, and there's a lot you can learn from them. The accommodation is great, and one thing future volunteers shouldn't worry about is food — there's always plenty. You'll have free afternoons and weekends, plus there's a pool on the property and the ocean isn't far. I'd recommend this experience to anyone — it's a safe, well-organized place and an amazing deal overall!

I've been to Lombos Gardens 4 times so far and I will be back. It's beautiful and peaceful and the kind of hard work I enjoy. I swam in the pool every day to cool down and visited most of the local beaches several times. Luisa and Purjari are like family to me and we're very helpful when I needed it. I spent a month at Lombos Garden, and sometimes it was a bit difficult, especially the communication. There were moments when I didn't really know how to react without doing something wrong. But I have to say that I learned a lot and we were a great group. Nevertheless, everyone there does their best and everyone was very friendly to me. Thank you for letting me be with you!
