Hours per week: Help out and collaborate with your host only a few hours per week.

The Experience

I own a seven bedroom Bed and Breakfast in beautiful Somerset close to the medieval city of Wells. We receive guests from all over the world and it is lots of fun here, but a lot of work too! My three children and I enjoy meeting people and having help from volunteers all over the world. Hopefully you'll have lots of fun here meeting us and all of our guests :)) And since May 2024 we have a puppy, so even more fun!

The guest house was like being at home for me. Sarah, Andy and the girls were fantastic, I connected really well with them! They respected my working hours and invited me for dinner out, birthdays and celebrations. I met amazing guests too, Dave particularly, I will never forget him! I improved my English and learned so much about their culture and food! (Sarah is a great cook by the way) So thank you for everything!!

This was my first experience as a volunteer, and I believe it couldn't have been better. Sarah was very kind and welcoming from our very first communications. The work instructions were clear, and the schedule was respected as agreed. The kitchen is very well equipped and available for use, as is the food. The accommodation is very comfortable and clean, with a beautiful view of the English countryside. Sarah has a lovely family, and I will remember everyone forever — including Redd. I had unforgettable days at the guest house; it's a delight place.

I had a lovely time in Wells! Sarah and her family are so welcoming and love to have a chat with you. You have your own room and ensuite. All the hours were respected and there was plenty of time to explore the area or take a day trip to Bristol or Bath. Everything was simple tasks and Sarah would explain and show how she wanted it done. I'd definitely recommend!

This is a perfect experience to truly immerse yourself in British culture learning a lot (on a practical and social level). As for the volunteering activities, they are very well-organised: the tasks are varied and everything flows perfectly. The atmosphere is filled with positivity and love. The countryside that surrounds the place is wonderful/wild and the nearest city, Wells, is really charming (tourism, culture, food). The cherry on top is definitely the people you share the experience with: the family who runs the B&B is extremely caring and genuine and will make it so hard to leave!

My experience at the guest house & the guest house was great. Sarah and the girls were welcoming and friendly. Their puppy Redd is adorable! Tasks are the ones mentioned and can be done easily. Wells is amazing and has good transport connections to other cities such as Bristol, Bath, Cheddar and Glastonbury. I would definitely recommend this experience to solo or couple travellers.
