The Experience

Volunteers can help with general maintenance of the smallholding, feeding, fencing, tractor maintenance and hay making in late summer. We also have a large garden so grass cutting , cutting back, weeding and some digging. We need to do some regular maintenance in the house so general diy, painting etc. We also have a never ending round of poo pickup from the Alpaca's We would love someone who was handy with mechanics, we have older tractors.

I'm deeply grateful for this experience. Suzie and Chris were incredible hosts! it felt more like home than a volunteering and they gave me so much more that I was expecting it any sense. The place is beautiful, full of nature and animals, and I had my own private and cosy space in a caravan. Which I love it! And a special mention goes to the best living being in this world ,Buddy, the most adorable dog I've ever met in my life. The tasks were really varied, and I discovered that I actually love planting! Definitely a beautiful experience that I'll carry in my heart forever.

Suzie and Chris are truly amazing people. It feels just like home in their place. The amount of work is reasonable and feels like really making an impact at the lodge. The animals are very cute as well! Give Buddy and Big Cat a hug from me while you are there :D The experience is perfect for you when you want to get in touch with the people, its a very personal experience. That might not be for everyone, if you are just coming to work you'll miss out on a lot of things they have to offer! I really recommend for people that are new to worldpackers and feel insecure about staying away :) Cheers!

Suzie and Chris are the embodiment of 'mi casa es su casa'. They are just great hosts. The work is physical but not hard. You dont have to worry about feeling hungry after because Chris will make tasty meals and makes sure there is plenty of food. I left a little earlier bc i wanted to go visit family and they were very flexible and accomodating with that, Chris even made lunch for me for on my journey! This is a very rural smallholding so there isnt much activity in town. I spent my evenings watching tv with the dog Buddy and Big Cat. The pets are really lovely! 10/10 would recommend

An especially transformative and joyful experience. A home that is sacred and blessed for me, with many special friends. Animal friends who inspire us to love more and better, and human friends who invite us to practice respect, generosity, and the true meaning of sharing and collaborating. I leave this chapter with my heart overflowing with gratitude and the certainty that I still have much to experience here in Scotland in the not-too-distant future. Thank you, my dear friend Suzie. Thank you, my dear Chris. Thank you so much for all the exchanges and learning. I hope we can meet again. x x

Chris and Suzie have a lovely farm in rural Scotland, it's a great place for anyone who wants to get close to nature and have some time away from the big cities, it's a kind of peace and quiet that you can enjoy. What can I say about Suzie and Chris? They are understanding, honest and always willing to help you plan a getaway (Suzie gives the best advice), the work is fair and the food is some of the best I've had on my trip. I highly recommend this volunteering experience.
