The Experience

This plantation is a 19th-century Dutch Colonial heritage with lots of history and locally-harvested coffee. It is managed by one of the most influential and respected families in Blitar and has been handed down from generation to generation. In 2015, the property was opened to the public, offering tours through the coffee fields, museums, and a warehouse -converted cafe that has the charm and relaxed vibes of a Dutch-Indies past life.

I had a really great time working at the coffee plantation. The work itself was totally manageable and it left us plenty of free time. The city center is quite far from the plantation so it's not that easy to get there but you can call a grab anytime. The working hours were respected and if you had any questions you could always talk to Andrei or Mr Wima. Overall I really enjoyed my time there and can recommend it!

This was my 4th volunteering experience and by far the one where I felt the most respected and welcomed. Everything is well organized, thanks to Mr. Wima and Andrey! The food is incredibly good and vegetarian. The tasks are easy and they expect us to act as volunteers and not as staff, which was appreciated. Living conditions are good, but you have to be prepared to have lots of ants, which is normal in this region. The plantation is a bit remote, so it can be difficult to get around. Overall, I'm very grateful: it's the perfect experience to learn more about coffee and real Javanese culture!

I had an absolutely amazing experience volunteering at the host Koffie Plantation! The tasks were straightforward, my roles were mainly serving in the cafe and doing simple outdoor tasks. They make sure each volunteer gets an education on the coffee process and genuinely want you to experience as much as possible. The care that the hosts (and everyone who works here) put into making sure I had a good experience was very greatly appreciated!Their main priority is positive cultural exchange and I feel very grateful to have had this opportunity :) hope to be back one day
