The Experience

This plantation is a 19th-century Dutch Colonial heritage with lots of history and locally-harvested coffee. It is managed by one of the most influential and respected families in Blitar and has been handed down from generation to generation. In 2015, the property was opened to the public, offering tours through the coffee fields, museums, and a warehouse -converted cafe that has the charm and relaxed vibes of a Dutch-Indies past life.

I had a great volunteering experience at the host. The work was wonderfully diverse, mostly helping in the cafe, but also assisting with coffee bean production and tasks around the museums. I truly learned a lot, not only about coffee but also about the local culture and history. The whole team is incredibly warm-hearted; I felt well taken care of and really enjoyed working with everyone

I had an amazing experience at the host Koffie Plantage. From the very first moment, I felt warmly welcomed — the team always made an effort to include me, keep me engaged, and still give me enough time for myself. During my two weeks at the plantation, I learned so much about both the local culture and coffee. The program they prepared for me was wonderfully diverse: I visited a local high school, worked in the café, enjoyed a coffee tasting, and more. I truly recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax, learn and immerse themselves in the local culture.

I had a great time at the coffee plantation! Most of my tasks involved working in the cafe, just running drinks and chatting to staff. Lots and lots of photos with local visitors! I was unfortunately the only volunteer at the time, but Mr Wima and his family welcomed me beautifully. Would definitely recommend not just as a beautiful place to be, but also with lovely people and interaction with locals. If you go, please give lots of love to the beautiful puppies Poppy and Chocco. Thank you all 😁

I had an incredible two weeks at the coffee plantation. I felt truly welcomed by the team. Besides the work, I was able to learn a lot about the history of Blitar and its culture. The work itself was very well organized, which made everything run smoothly, and I enjoyed spending most of my time in the café with a great team! I would recommend this to anyone looking for work in a relaxed environment, with beautiful surroundings that are perfect for walking around. It's located a bit outside the city, which makes it peaceful.

I absolutely loved my time spent in the host. Wima and his family are absolutely lovely, the team in plantation is very friendly and welcoming. I think it was the perfect blend between immersing into a local culture, learning more about coffee, interacting with customers, spending time with the family, meeting other volunteers as well and being in the nature. Actually, the plantation is very well taken care of. I will miss my the host family. Hope to see you again soon. ❤️
