The Experience

Real laboratory on resource-efficient living. We – two environmental activists – are currently building two ecological projects on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. We're looking for people who want to join and help. Our finca lies in the heart of an important ecological corridor. We're working toward self-sufficiency through permaculture, agroforestry and hands-on maintenance. We're also laying the groundwork for a foundation to protect jungle.

Staying at this place was an amazing experience! Jule and Stefan are such warm and caring hosts, always ready to help in any situation. This place was great for my personal growth and although the adjustment can be challenging at first, it's worth it. Once you embrace it, you'll see the beauty here and fall in love with the place, just like I did. For example having the chance to see wild animals on the farm and enjoying the peaceful setting in the rainforest. But Puerto Viejo is also a great spot to meet new people. I definitely plan to come back someday to see how the project has developed.

Agradecida de esta experiencia. Aprendí varias cosas principalmente compartiendo con las voluntarias. Practiqué inglés con ellas. Yule es muy amable. Con Stefan tuvimos unas diferencias de opinión al principio pero fueron conversadas. Están trabajando para mejorar los problemas que existen en el proyecto. El lugar es muy bonito y tranquilo, rodeado de animales. Conocí frutas y vegetales en la finca. Las horas de trabajo se respetan. Es un trabajo duro al aire libre hay que considerar el sol, calor y humedad que existe en el lugar. Di mi 100% en el trabajo, fue cortar en pasto. Saludos :)
