The Experience

This is an historical place, famous far beyond Småland. We won it in a competition about the best project. Help us restore this beautiful farm! We have started planting a lot of organic fruit trees that will need a lot of care. There is also an amazing abandoned botanical garden which we want to bring back to life! We have big greenhouses for vegetables and buildings that need restoring. Lots to do at this wonderful place right at lake Åsnen!

Working at Farfars café was a wonderful experience ! The community who works and lives there is very welcoming and diverse as everyone comes from different places of the world. I truly loved that the staff (including us volunteers) have our own space to relax and spend time together, as it really helped us bond. The working hours in the kitchen are respected, the tasks vary between taking care of the café, of the dishes, or simple cooking tasks such as peeling veggies. Don't hesitate to write me if you want more info about Farfars or the host in general ;)

My time at the host was a great experience. Everybody there was so nice and I spent a lot of time with other volunteers playing card games and exploring the area! The staff at the kitchen and bed & breakfast explained everything very well and I could always ask for help with the work or anything us volunteers needed. I would definitely recommend volunteering at the host because of the beautiful landscape, delicious cakes and kind people.

Staying at the host was amazing! The work outside(weeding etc) as well as in the cafe is fun and you can learn a lot. All of the staff was very patient with teaching you how to do each task. I also had a great time meeting the other volunteers and exploring the area by bike/walking.

I just spent 2 wonderful weeks in the cafe/guesthouse in the host, mainly with Aneta and Mathilde who were patient in explaining the varied tasks, and made sure you did only your agreed hours. Lia regularly checked in to see that you were happy and to ask if you needed anything. Lodgings were simple but comfortable. The surrounding nature was wild and wonderful. Great place if you like walks in forests, lake swims, cycles to local village 6km - (bikes provided).Meeting other volunteers of all nationalities and ages was fantastic. Thank you to the whole team at the host for this adventure.
