The Experience

Very nice experience overall. I worked with the guide Cesar translating the tours. It is fun and you learn a lot. You have a lot of free time but you don't always know when. It is far from porto de Ayora and there are not many buses. Cesar is amazing 🤩 thank you

I was being a translater from Spanish to English together with the main guide Cesar. I learned a lot from Cesar on the tours and hes also very passionate about it. Cesar and his son Julio were really nice people to go along with. I really recommend them. They also give you a bike so u can go wherever you want in your free time. They also give u information about how to take the bus etc. The place is really peaceful, with a lot of tortoises and fruit trees. I was there for 10 days and i got really comfortable with them after the second day when i knew them better. I will definitely miss them!!

I liked volunteering for the farm a lot. It is great learning and I really had the feeling that I was contributing to the tours by translating the information. Only thing was that the location is quite a bit out of centre, although there is a bike provided, commuting can be quite exhausting. Also the climate can be quite rough, being misty and cloudy during October.

Overall the experience was fine, I am grateful that I got to live in a beautiful place in the forest and see turtules and experience the farm but it felt a bit lonely . Cons : - there was no socializing, it felt like a job I was doing the tours and then everyone was on their own - only one bike that's in pretty bad state and city is 20 min biking away - basic accommodation, a bed and a desk - far and isolated location 20 minutes from the city Pros : - beautiful location in nature - free fruits - you get to see many turtles - you will practice your Spanish - not many hours to wor

Galápagos the lodge is the perfect place if you like nature, tortoises, and quietness. In the mornings I helped in the garden, picked mandarins for preparing delicious juice, translated tours, organized and cleaned the kitchen and made some decorations. In the afternoons I took the bike to the port and the beaches. Julio and Cesar were the perfect hosts. Cesar was living with me at the finca, everyday we prepared delicious meals together and he told me everything about the Islands. Julio was happy to hear my opinion about his ideas and it depends on you in which areas you want to help.
