The Experience

I stayed for two weeks with Cesar and his son Julio. They were welcoming and even shared a few more meals than expected. The place is immersed in nature, in close contact with turtles. They offer tours of the national park with tourists, so you need to be flexible because they might arrive at the last minute, but you can arrange for some free time with Cesar or Julio. There's a beautiful kitchen for cooking, equipped with all the necessary utensils, and fruit is available; you just have to pick it from the trees.

The experience was amazing. Cesar and Julio are very kind and make you feel comfortable. You help with tour translations and tasks like painting, cooking, cleaning, or making juices. The schedule changes daily, and tours can be confirmed just an hour before, so flexibility is key. You can request days off in advance to avoid being assigned tours. The ranch is far from the port, with limited buses and an old bike with weak brakes, but it's manageable. I highly recommend this volunteering for learning about the Galápagos, fruits, animals, and nature :)))

Very nice experience overall. I worked with the guide Cesar translating the tours. It is fun and you learn a lot. You have a lot of free time but you don't always know when. It is far from porto de Ayora and there are not many buses. Cesar is amazing 🤩 thank you

The work as translator is nice and you will learn a lot about the farm! Cesar is a super interesting person and we enjoyed spending time together, especially when eating ;-) you will have some time to visit the island and the farm is a very special place. Also the property has many fruit trees and you can eat everything that grows there which is fantastic. The only downsides are the humidity of the place and its remote location. There are 3 buses per day or you will have to walk to the main highway ~40 mins. There is also one bike but without gears and weak brakes.

We enjoyed our experience at the farm. Translating the tours was fun and interesting. The other tasks like cleaning, picking fruit and helping around were easy enough. We liked getting together at meal times, where we got to know Cesar better. The place is beautiful with fruit trees, turtles and birds. The only downsides are that the place is very humid (your clothes will mostly be damp and my backpack got mould after 10 days) and isolated (3 buses/1 bike). Also the working hours were not really defined. Overall we would recommend staying!
