The Experience

We had an absolutely incredible month at the hostel and couldn't recommend it enough. The host Junya and the adorable cat Miku-chan were so welcoming, and Junya is flexible to make sure you get to do everything you want to. We had a great time hiking the mountain and exploring the town and the coast. Hiroshima is really close so day trips are super easy too! The work is just as described and there are always clear instructions, and it feels like a very fair trade for accomodation in such a unique place plus TWO meals a day! We found a real sense of family with Junya and the other volunteers ♡

This was my first volunteer experience and I loved everything about it. The host Junya-san and everyone else were super nice and welcoming. They answered every question and guided me in my first days. Work never feels too exhausting, since you always have enough time to relax before or after your shift, in addition the days off are always refreshing. In this guest house you'll never feel forgotten or missed since there're always prologue around you who are always up to for a good chat. All in all I would recommend volunteering here, especially if it's your first time.

I spent one month in the hostel and it was the best stay of my year in Japan ! I met so many friends there ! The work is clear and easy. The Guesthouse is beautiful and, to make it perfect, the guests are really nice. There was great teamwork and we were always happy to help each other ! I have a lot of good memories on this island (hiking, going to the beach, watching the sunset together …). I wish I could have stayed longer, I'm already missing everyone (especially Miku!).

My first volunteering experience, a real opportunity to work at the hostel. I spent three wonderful weeks with Junya and the staff on this beautiful island. The mutual support among the team, shared dinners, hikes up Mount Misen, and nighttime strolls through a tourist-free the hostel all helped me build a genuine connection with the other staff members. Sometimes guests join us for dinner, which is a great way to meet people from all over the world. I wholeheartedly recommend volunteering at the hostel and having the chance to work with Junya. Thank you again for the warm welcome.

I had an amazing two months at the hostel! It was such a pleasure working with Junya, the owner. He always made sure we were having a good time and supported us in so many ways. One of the best things about working at the hostel is how close the staff are. We shared dinners, had great conversations, and even went on trips to the mountains and the sea. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming, and I loved connecting with both the guests and the team. Big thanks again to Junya!
