The Experience

Hostel Bad Salzig is a small hostel for up to eight guests. Right next to the Hostel there are eight alpacas you are also very welcome to help with (checking hay and water, mucking out or join guided tours). In summer and holiday season it can get quite busy, in the hostel as well as with the alpacas. That means there are always new people to meet and talk to. Nevertheless you'll have plenty of time to explore the region on your own.

This was my first volunteering experience, and the one I'll measure all the ones that follow against. I think I'll be hard pressed to find a place offering so much in exchange for so little of my time. I love hostels, and so few still adhere to the original spirit of the communal house. Andreas is a model host, and I met some fascinating travelers in the course of my stay. the hostel is as gorgeous when the sun shines over its lush green banks and rolling hills, as it is shrouded in mist on a rainy day. I'm grateful for the experience, it was a truly inspiring place.

It has been my first volunteering experience and I think I couldn't have chosen better. The host has been super kind to me, always helping me with anything. I felt at home, next to the forest and there is stunning nature, I recommend this place 100%. Thank you Andreas for everything.

This was my first trip with Worldpackers and I had a really nice time in Bad Salzig! Andreas is a really great host and will make you feel very welcome. The hostel work is super simple and doesnt take long, so you have plenty of time to explore the area using the buses, trains and bikes. The town is very scenic and I enjoyed the time I spent with the hostel too. I can't recommend this enough :)

We had a great time in Bad Salzig. The work was simple and time with the hostel was enjoyable. You have a lot of time to explore the area, and with a free region transport card which made it really easy. Thanks for a great stay. - Chelsea & Finn

Andreas is a very welcoming person who always take care of you. The trip here was great and the hostel is cosy. You don't work a lot, between 1&2 hours maximum and you have a lot of time to visit the others cities.
