The Experience
The volunteer, according to the needs of the structure. will have, from time to time, to do small maintenance - gardening help, cleaning and refurbishment of rooms, general cleaning and welcoming guests. El voluntario, de acuerdo a las necesidades, tendrá, de vez en cuando, que hacer un pequeño mantenimiento: ayuda de jardinería, limpieza y renovación de habitaciones, limpieza general y bienvenida a los huéspedes.

I had an incredible time volunteering at the hostel. Las Galeras is a small lovely town full of most wonderful paradise beaches. It's a peaceful place where you can take things slow and relax. The job is truly simple and light. Luca, the owner and supervisor is so understanding, flexible and patient. The work leaves you plenty of time to hang out and interact with the guests. The hostel itself is a nice space with a ping pong table and fussbol where the atmosphere is relaxed and everyone enjoys free time together. Volunteers stay in a room that is just a 2min walk away. This was a great volunteer experience, especially being within walking distance to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Small town vibe with local shops and restaurants nearby. Luca and the other volunteers were very passionate and impactful to the cause. They made me feel welcomed from start to finish. The tasks and schedule was clearly defined from the beginning. Keep in mind Las Galeras is tropical so bring insect repellent and sunscreen for a more comfortable nights rest. Finally, Luca cares passionately about his mother, it made me think of how much I love my mother as well.

Tuve una linda experiencia en el hostel. El lugar es tranquilo y está cerca de playas hermosas. Es fácil conectar con otros viajeros y con la cultura local. El dueño es muy amable, flexible y siempre está dispuesto a ayudarte. Las tareas son sencillas, pero requieren de compromiso y organización para que todo funcione bien. A veces el ambiente en la cocina puede ser tenso, ya que la madre del dueño puede ser estricta con la limpieza y el orden, pero si cumples con las reglas no hay problema. En general es un lugar al que volvería!

En este voluntariado encontré mucho mas que una estadía, compartí con otros voluntarios de distintos países, el anfitrión es un excelente ser humano, en esta experiencia combine trabajo, aprendizaje y convivencia, en un entorno alegre que vale la pena recomendar.

Mi tiempo en el hostel fue fantástico, extendí dos semanas más porque no quiero irme. Es un Hostel que está muy bien ubicado y que promueve el encuentro con la comunidad local, está cerca de las playas más maravillosas que he visto. Las tareas del voluntariado son sencillas, implican el compromiso de hacer de la estadía de los huéspedes una buena experiencia. Hay que lidiar con el carácter de la mamá de Luca, pero él dice que está resolviendo esa cuestión por lo que no será así dentro de poco. La organización es la herramienta clave para ayudar en este voluntariado. Recomiendo!
