The Experience

Hello travelers!! I am happy to host you here at my farm where I have horses, a few cows, pigs sometimes and some chickens. I also grow organic fruits and vegetables and use permaculture techniques. There’s are dogs and a cat that also live here. The farm is in there beautiful North Thompson valley about 30 min from Kamloops. Nearby lakes are great for fishing, canoeing and swimming in summer and winter there is amazing skiing at nearby resorts.

I really enjoyed my stay with Jane. You will live with her in a nice farmhouse and have the nicest animals around you. The work is manageable and differs from fixed animal tasks to what ever comes up. You can learn a lot about farming and sustainability and will have a lot of nice food :)

I enjoyed my time at Jane's. She's a generous host and all her animals are the best!

Jane replied

Lotta was a wonderful help! She is a self starter and requires little to no supervision in her work. Her sunny outlook is pleasant to have around. Her love for the animals showed in the care she gave them.
Thanks for all your help.

What an experience! Jane is a great host, who welcomes you into her home. She is generous with her time and knowledge around animal care, sustainable practices and more. She is a great cook and the food was delicious! The work is physical however after an adjustment period, is very manageable. The animals are beautiful and I miss seeing them everyday. This is a fabulous place to volunteer! Thank you again Jane 😊

Jane was an amazing host and staying at her farm was a great experience. Being my first Worldpackers I didn't really know what to expect but as soon as I arrived, Jane welcomed me into her home and overall I had a great time. The tasks were pretty managable, just keep in mind it is hard, physical work but soon you'll find your routine and get stuck into it nicely. I'll look back on my time fondly here as the animals are so cute, and I learned so much about sustainability. Canning and food prep was a great thing to learn about also. And you get to go horse riding! Thank you Jane for everything

I had a great stay a Janes. The house and the bedrooms were super comfortable, and the animals super cute. I learned so much about cooking, gardening, farming , sustainability and the culture. Jane always gives you the chance to make things by your own and never gets upset if things don't work out directly. Tho you need to be aware that working on a farm ist physical, sometimes exhausting, work. But once you get used to it, you will find your routine. For me the stay was totally worth it and i will keep it in mind :)
