The hostel is a beautiful, lively place on Ilhabela, perfect for meeting people. I volunteered in the kitchen for two months—tasks were easy, the staff was kind despite the language barrier, and I made great friends. However, the volunteer room is small, crowded, and lacks secure storage. Some of my belongings went missing, and I didn't feel the issue was handled respectfully. Also, the included “meal” is just a basic snack, not suitable for all diets. I still recommend the experience, but suggest improvements for volunteer conditions and security. Besides, the hostel has an amazing vibe!

Só nos surpreendeu o comentário sobre o quarto, já que você conheceu TUDO presencialmente antes de aceitar o projeto. O espaço é pra 8 pessoas, mas teve um voluntário que dormia com você e o quarto dele era outro deixando malas fora do lugar, o que fugiu do combinado.
Pedimos organização todos os dias e oferecemos armários com cadeado que estavam disponíveis, mas não foram usados. Seguimos sempre buscando melhorar. Obrigado pelo retorno!

My main goal from this place was to learn Portuguese and i definitely learned A LOT during my month there mainly because of the fact that most of the staff members don't speak any english, and even with the language barrier i felt welcomed. My only problem was the volunteers room which was super moldy but they started to renovate it literally on the day that i left so not sure about it now. Working in the kitchen was fun and very easy if you have some kitchen experience. All in all would recommend, the island is amazing and the atmosphere and the hostel itself as well!

This volunteer experience was incredible! This is the biggest hostel I have stayed in. An incredible space in the middle of nature, and at the same time the center of the city where everyone can find their own cozy place. I met many amazing people and learned a lot of new things about work, perception of life, and languages. The island is very beautiful and feels good energy, but the people undeniably make this place magical. Special thanks to Gerson and the rest of the staff! the hostel is in my heart ❤️ I'll come back for sure!!
