The Experience

We are to repaint the front side of our beautiful mansion built 1851. We will use traditional methods and materials such as lineseed oil paint. Volonteers will not be asked to work on hights or on other risky positions. Except for work with painting we will need help in the kitchen to provide nice home made food every day, and also sometimes help with daily routines such as cleaning, laundry and more. Nils and Helle are amazing, they really made us feel welcomed into their house and we really appreciated that. We'll miss the hostel a lot and all the people we met along the way and we hope to come back in the future. This was such a great experience and we got to see truly what it's like to live in Sweden!

I recommend this experience to everyone, who wants to escape from the fast way of living and like to be in nature. Nils is the best host I could ever wished for. He made us feel like it is our home away from home. The work and working hours were always reasonable. You get to know the tasks after breakfast and sometimes I wished to have it earlier or with more structure. After work there is a lot to do like Kajaking, biking, hiking or just relaxing at the mansion. Thanks for everything!

I think its not possible to take more care of the volunteers as Nils & Helle did. The food was always good and more than enough. If rooms were free, it was always possible to stay in a hostelroom as a private room. We were even aloud to use their car! The workload ist not to much and i had the opportunity to learn new skills in gardening. Nils & Helle place great trust in the volunteers and i highly recommend this place.
