The Experience

My small olive and sheep farm needs tender love and care. I currently need help getting the farm back under control by cleaning, painting, and organizing it again. I let it go too far, and I need volunteers to help get it up and running once more. Some of the tasks include: fixing up my guest cabin, pruning olive trees, gardening, and tending to my fields. Stay time can be flexible if this is an enjoyable stay for you.

Volunteering on this the farm near Foça was a wonderful experience. Surrounded by nature and animals, the tasks were enjoyable and relaxing. Huge thanks to the kind host Umut for his hospitality and for cooking for me! I Highly recommend if you like yo spend days in Nature.

I had a great time with Umit working on his farm! He's a wonderful cook but be prepared dinner is after the farm are fed which was perfect for me. There were lambs born while I was there and I got to hand feed the triplets as it was too much for mom. I did a variety of chores, weeding, collecting the eggs, helping feed the farm bringing in the bails from the fields. The farm is a 20 minute bus ride to Foça and I went swimming there a lot. Boat tours leave daily from Foça and are well worth it. Umit would give me a ride if he was heading to town and the bus is easy to use. Enjoy!

I highly recommend this experience with Umit! The farm is beautiful and filled with delicious olives, figs and mulberries. You can learn a lot about how to run the farm. The work is hard, but he is very mindful of the heat of summer, so we started early in the mornings to finish outdoor activities early. He really cooks very well, and we had the opportunity to try many typical dishes from Turkish cuisine. He was immensely patient and understanding when I had to leave a few days earlier because I got an allergy and health issues. I hope to have another experience with him in another season

Our farm experience was amazing! This volunteering opportunity had everything I was looking for: a deep connection with nature, immersion in local culture, and delicious cuisine. Umit has created a beautiful, inviting space and is generous in sharing his culture. He was also incredibly understanding when we had a health issue that required us to leave a few days earlier than planned. We're deeply grateful for his support and patience during that time.
