Program Details
We are looking for someone with gardening experience or a strong willingness to learn how to manage an organic veggie garden. Our garden is undergoing an exciting transformation, and there's plenty of hands-on work to do! As part of our sustainable garden project, you'll help create a self-sustaining veggie garden, turn organic waste into warm compost, and grow flowers, herbs, and fresh produce.
We have a field with many carrube trees: from October to May we need help to do maintenance work in the field. Between August and mid-September, we need help to collect the carrube. We have hats and gloves so you can work more comfortably, but we recommend you bring long pants and comfortable shoes for the work, as there are shins.
Activities & Shift
The hours are not fixed; some days we work more and some days less, depending on the weather and daily tasks that could also be housekeeping and cooking.
Our food is delicious, we try to cook with fresh and organic food and products from the garden and eggs from our chickens. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the volunteering but everyday we organise who prepares it.
We communicate on a daily basis to see what tasks each of us is doing.
We have a meditation room, where yoga or spiritual gatherings are often held, and you can participate if you wish. Also, if you want to use it to teach something, or use only for you, you can do it!
I am also available to recommend places in Sicily for you to visit on your days off. Sometimes, if you know how to drive, a car is available 🌍✨
Rules
We are smokers, so smoking is allowed inside the house.
Volunteering at Vinciucci is like being at home. We don't just say this because we want a homey atmosphere. But because we always start the day together and usually have lunch and dinner together, unless there are exceptions and/or we don't want to, but we always let each other know in advance.
