I had such an amazing time at this place! Kai was super nice, the english lessons with kids and adults were great amd its was just fun to be with them. 😊 Helping around the hostel was easy and didnt took much time, so there was plenty of free time. We even went for a trip to another city, which was super nice from Kai to take me. Totally recommend this place. 😁 and i hope i can come back one day 🙏🏻

My experience here at the hostel was so lovely. Kai is a dedicated, easygoing, and kind person. I always felt appreciated for any of the work I did while there. Kai was always respectful of my time and space. This was my first Worldpackers experience, and I'm so glad I got to experience it here in Sagamiko with Kai at the hostel. It was everything I imagined! Thank you for the wonderful opportunity, Kai!

Had a great stay at the hostel!! Most of the work consisted of renovation projects, and Kai was very open to new ideas, which made it very fun and rewarding. Through the English classes, there are plenty of opportunities to meet locals. Most of the communication happened in English, but when I said I wanted to learn Japanese we started dedicating specific moments to that so I could practice, which was very kind. I also had great fun meeting other international volunteers and guests, who all seem to share the interest to come back one day, like me :) Thanks for everything!

This is a little piece of paradise where people from all over the place pass by ! Kai is a gem of a human. He made sure I have a great experience ! The locals are lovely and very happy to have me in town ! The english clases are super fun ! The work around the house is very clear and Kai is open to new ideas to improve the hostel ! The hostel is perfect to relax in nature, it has a sauna, gym, river with a chilling area and work space. Sagamiko is surrounded by mountains, has a beautiful lake and the scenery is just so beautiful ! Tokyo is super close as well ! This is a must see spot !

It has been the best experience I have had as a volunteer. Kai's place is a dream, surrounded by nature, a cozy house and a natural river next to the house make this a magical place. Kai is an excellent host, he is always attentive to your needs and gives you a lot of food, you will certainly never be hungry 😅 schedules were always respected... thank you Kai :)

Kai is kind, respectful and funny person and also a great host! I loved walking around the nature here, met amazing people and enjoyed my time a lot. Just keep in mind, its an old japanese house, so there is no central heating and it can get really cold in winter. Other then that, 100% recommended!

Kai is a warm and thoughtful person, who is very caring toward his community. He is really great with the local kids, especially-- whether he is teaching them English or helping do exercise classes at the local elementary school, you can tell that the kids love him. the hostel is a special place in a beautiful, small community. The people in Sagamiko are lucky to have Kai. He made me feel welcome and well-looked-after.

I have spent a great time with Kai, besides I have been able to live new experiences and be in contact with the local culture. If you like nature and want to get to know Japanese culture up close, I highly recommend this destination. Hope to see you again Kai!! :)

Kai was an intelligent conversationalist and an outstanding sensei whom I definitely learned a lot from. He was also incredibly polite, attentive, and empathetic. The property was amazing, (also a stone's throw away from Tokyo) and Kai's inspiring vision for the local community has me excited for my next visit. Teaching the students was a joy, we had fun and I will miss this time in Japan very much. Being in nature and surrounded by a supportive community allowed me to connect with my mind and body in a transformative way. This experience will always enrich me. Okagesama de Kai san!

Kai's place is awesome. It's an excellent place to learn about Japan and to get to know a small community in Sagamiko. The people are all very welcoming and the place is very quaint and unique. The work isn't difficult and there's optional training which is great for improving your discipline. I would definitely recommend staying with Kai for at least 2 weeks but a longer stay will for sure teach you more.
