The Experience

We are a community of potato lovers, situated in Wendland in the north of Germany. Our passion is cultivating potatoes from all over the world, cooking tasty potatoes dishes and serving them to our guests. We run the one and only potato farm-hotel in Germany. You help us in the kitchen to prepare the food and wash the dishes. Once a week we organize a German course for you. We plan with 5 days a week and 6 hours per day.

Spent close to a month at the potato hotel doing kitchen work and landscaping. It was a very fun experience working with other international travelers while Olaf was very nice and welcoming. Be aware that depending on the time of year it could get slow and boring in some days, but take it as a good thing because its more time for yourself.

My experience as a volunteer in Kartoffel-Hotel was wonderful. From day one, Olaf and his team made me feel like part of a family. The environment is natural, peaceful, and beautiful, and the facilities are comfortable and well-maintained. The transport connections make it easy to explore other areas. I had a great time at Kartoffeln Hotel! The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, it's a great place to disconnect. The tasks were fairly simple and the staff was always available to explain questions and have nice chats! On top, the other volunteers were amazing people and made my stay there unforgettable. Overall a really nice experience :)

My stay in Karttoffeln Hotel was really nice! I had the opportunity to connect with other volunteers from all around the world, I got to practice my the hostel and It was a great momento to disconnect from the virtual world. In Karttoffeln Hotel you will have the opportunity to see how a Hotel/Restaurant works, with this internship you will be working on various tasks that a hotel needs to mantain itself. Working hours are normally respected, just one day per month you work way more. Staff have some communication problems, but overall a great experience, Thank you very much for everything!
