The Experience
As a housekeeping volunteer you’ll be at the forefront of our operations as part of the housekeeping team you’ll help to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness for our residents. Duties include : Everyday general cleaning including the cleaning of showers, toilets, bedrooms, public & communal areas, external areas, kitchens and dining room.

I want to thank Paolo, Emmanuel and David for my stay here at the hostel, I also want to say that the activities are as described, they are calm and easy to carry out. The hostel is very close to Big Ben, LondonEye and more, making it possible to go on foot, a great location with supermarkets, pizzerias, etc. nearby. I am grateful for the opportunity given to me to be part of the hostel team, everyone is polite and kind, the team (other volunteers) are also to be congratulated, many of them being Worldpackers. I recommend it, I would definitely go back.

My experience in the hostel was wonderful, I met very nice people from other places. The host Paolo, is a very kind and smiling person. The other hosts Deivid and Emanuel are also very friendly and helpful with information and orientation. The location of the residence is very good, you can reach all the interesting places in London within a few minutes walking distance.

Overall, I had a pleasant time. I got lucky, the group of volunteers I met was very good, we really had camaraderie and were able to help each other to finish our duties. The work can be very hard at the beginning but as time goes by it gets better and you can manage your time to finish properly. Something amazing is the location, you can go mostly everywhere by walking which I loved, also the area is really good. As any other work experience you always find things that can be managed in a better way but Paolo and David were always open to solve any doubts, I'm really grateful for that!

My experience with the volunteering wasn't good. The work is heavy, more like an employee's job, and there's constant pressure during the tasks. You can only take one day off per week, and weekends are not an option. Moreover, when I arrived, I wasn't well received by the receptionist, who didn't treat me kindly. All of this combined ended up discouraging me from the experience. I wouldn't recommend it, especially if it's your first volunteering opportunity, like it was for me.
