The Experience

We are a small family business hotel in La Ventana located 50 minutes from La Paz. We have 11 bungalows. We are a minute away from the beach. Nov-Mar is a bit colder and the winds are a bit stronger which means it's kite season. April-Oct there's low wind and is more optimal for diving, snorkeling etc.

The hotel was amazing. The people are welcoming and the town never felt unsafe. I mainly worked as a waitress and I was learning to bartend. The people you work with are mostly locals who are super nice and will invite you out. It's was prime time for wind sports in November so I recommend trying that if you don't already do it.

This was my first solo travel voulunteer experience. I had an amazing experience, the managers were understanding of what i wanted to gain out of this experience and were always available should i need help. I had some trouble at first with the housing but after mentioning it i was happily helped and had a great rest of my stay! The work can be hard at times but it's a restaurant after all, i really enjoyed it and loved connecting with the crew and guests! I had a great time also relaxing in my free time and working on various different tasks with my co-workers, some of which became friends!:)

Staying at the hotel via Worldpackers was incredible. The staff was welcoming, and speaking Spanish, while helpful, wasn't necessary. Laundry services were available for a small fee, making life easier. Working in the restaurant was rewarding, with honest scheduling and diverse tasks like making fresh juices and bartending. Highly recommended for travelers seeking enriching experiences.

I had a great time at the hotel, from the beginning I was welcomed very warmly by all the staff and quickly blended in. The responsabilities I had as a receptionist were the typical check-in, check-out, helping guests out, nothing hard to learn and always knew there was someone I could call if I needed help. Absolutely loved the opportunity to join boat tours with guests to go swim with dolphins, sea lions and watch humpback whales! The town itself is very charming with its beautiful beach and amazing surrounding nature and rather on the quiet side. 100% would recommend!

I had fun doing tasks like helping Out at the reception checking guests in and out and helping with events. In the third week of my stay we had the hotel's famous spare fishing tournament, where we successfully raised money for the school in La the hotel. so I spent the week helping the hotel's team, my job was it to be sure that the spare fishers arrive to the beach at the correct time see how many fish every individual diver brought and how much they weigh…besides other tasks. I had a very good time and hope to come back soon. Thank you for that wonderful experience.
