Male - Housekeeping Volunteer in London

This hostel was my first volunteering experience & I can say that I was able to achieve my goal: to spend a lot of time in London while saving money. Volunteering is cleaning, which is not light work anywhere; but having a friendly & respectful environment is the key to enjoying it. I take many people with me in my heart, with whom I was able to share not only the space; but experiences, learning, laughter and company. I must confess that I felt very nostalgic the day I left cos the hostel became my home. I always felt surrounded by a lot of love. Thank u for having me 💞!

My experience with the team and fellow volunteers was very positive. My English is quite basic, and the leaders were always patient in providing daily instructions and found ways to ensure effective communication. I felt welcomed and was very well received. Thank you, wonderful team!

This was my first experience as a volunteer and I can say that it was magnificent. The activities carried out are as described and there is always something to do. There are two days off and they also offer £20 for food, which is enough. The hostel is in a good location, there is a bus stop in front and the metro is also very close. The room is in good conditions with a well-equipped kitchen. Franco, George and Katerina are very friendly and always ready to help. The other team of volunteers is also friendly willing to help. I totally recommend the hostel and would definitely return:D

This was my first experience being voluntary and I am very grateful and happy with everything, the place is very well located and in general all the facilities are very well cared for, the work is a few days may be tired but in no way impossible to do. the hostel team is very nice, everyone is very nice and if you need anything or you have any questions they are always willing to help, the other volunteers are very nice and friendly, which makes a good time. In conclusion, it is a great place to volunteer, have no doubt. Thank you the hostel team for the great experience !!

I'm glad that my first volunteering was at the hostel. The staff—Franco, Katerina, and George—were incredibly nice and always guided me patiently. My favorite shifts were during Katerina's because she always brought delicious biscuits to the break area, which made the day even better! The schedule was as advertised, and the accommodations were cozy and spacious. The allowance was generous. While most long-term volunteers were nice, my Worldpackers roommates were the nicest and the best. We had a blast sharing stories about our cultures and hanging out together. Las extraño, amigas! <3"

My time at the hostel was amazing. Franco and Jorge are the best, very understanding, flexible, polite, and so on.... The task and the schedule are exactly what it is in the ad. The volunteers's accommodation are perfect, very cozy and spacious. Also the weekly allowance it is very good. Most of all, the volunteers that were with me, my time wouldn't be same without them. We had a blast....thank you to all volunteers, Franco and Jorge. I would definitely come back...I recommend 100%😉

This was my first Worldpacker experience and I really enjoyed. The work hours were respected and I had a lot of free time to visit London and to take a English class in the city centre. The team was friendly and helpful; I met volunteers from others country and everybody was nice. Good position, close to bus stop, DLR line and Elisabeth line.

This was my first Worldpackers experience and everyone was really kind and welcoming! The work wasn't too hard (only four hours a day, but something I would mention is that the hostel is much more a student accommodation, so some of the work inlcudes cleaning the rooms of students who are living there full time); and you have a lot of time left after to explore London. I think the experience is more ideal for longer term stays. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I'm thankful for the opportunity!

The best part of staying here is that I got chances to meet a lot of people and make genuine friends with other volunteers. We sometimes work together ( we work alone for most of the time), cook together, hangout together. The work is not very easy. We need to carry a heavy hoover and other cleaning stuff while trying to open heavy fire doors or going up and down through the stairs. So just be prepared but don't be scared. Staffs here are nice and welcoming. Overall ,I think it's still a really great experience.

Franco from the hostel informed me of my last min transfer to Bowdens the hostel and he was helpful in the whole process ensuring i was welcomed and informed :) this review will be for my time at Bowden the hostel; the work hours are respected (i worked 3h on weekdays and 5h on sundays), food was provided and the managers were nice :) they could improve on being more communicative with my exact tasks as there was a little confusion but it got resolved easily. overall i recommend this volunteering experience!

Davies Court replied

I am happy to reply on behalf of my colleagues in Bowden Court, where Kelly was sent due to a particular circumstance that we had at Davies.
Kelly has worked mainly in the kitchen, she is very appreciated by her colleagues and her supervisors. She shows a very positive attitude, is very friendly and kind, and she is more than welcome to apply for another volunteering experience with us.
