The Experience

We are doing agro-farming in a quiet, spontaneous and beautiful village near Pokhara Valley. We have some chickens, cow, dog, goats and some vegetables and crops farming. We need some helping hands. Our farm is surrounded with some nice hills where we can go hiking. Caves are few minutes walk. Our daily routine consists of going on a walk with our dog, cutting grass for the cow and goats, helping in the kitchen and helping children with homework.

I had such a fun time volunteering at GarmiKhola the farm for the past two months. A wonderful opportunity to learn about nepal by staying with a wonderful family. I learned so much about caring for animals, trained the cow to graze, learned how to milk and process dairy, and how to plant corn and harvest potatoes. If you are interested about learning rice cultivation be there 4 rainy season! I would highly recommend staying here if you want a cultural exchange and a chance to live on a farm in nepal<3

I had an amazing two months (march-april) staying on the farm! I learned how to milk a cow, herd goats, plant corn, and lots of other fun farm tasks. There is plenty of free time between tasks during a day to relax, go walk, or swim (good river canyon ~15min walk south of the farm). I also loved taking the dog for walks up the hill to get a good view of the Himalayas. Tanka's wife Asmita cooks very good dal bhat and curry with veg from the garden. Thank you again for everything!

Host was extremely welcoming. Work day was not too strenuous so allowed for time to sit by the river and explore the local area. Work included walking the dog, some planting, cutting grass, shoveling animal poo and feeding goats and cows. Would recommend if you were looking for a quiet get away from Pokhara and wanted to stay with a friendly local Nepalese family.

I had a lovely few days with Tanka and his family. Their hosting was warm and welcoming, and the work, though not difficult, was both educational and fun. There are lots of places to explore around the village. It was truly a great experience!

I stayed 10 days at this farm & felt very welcomed by the whole family. We played lots of games, learned some ukulele and cooked together. The work was fun. I experienced Tanka as a clear, patient instructor. I'm very thankful about everything i learned about the farmlife. Besides that I was able to learn some cooking and new games! My tasks were walking the dog ( which was the biggest challenge to be honest), feeding the animals, help with sudying, cutting grass and special tasks depending on demand and weather. I enjoyed the river, the view and all the butterflies and frogs:) thank you!
