Helping in my restaurant

Luuk is a marvelous host, I couldn't have asked for a better host for my first volunteering experience! He always kept his engagements and wanted the job to be fair for everyone. He always made sure to pick us up from the train station to make our arrival easier and drop us off when it was time to leave as well. I enjoyed the trips he would take us on on our days off, we saw parts of the Netherlands we would've probably never seen other wise! I really enjoyed my time in the host and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a chance to discover a calm part of the Netherlands!

I'm happy to have chosen this as my first experience, Luuk is a great host and was always on the lookout for anything I needed. Once you get used to the work is quite easy, the working hours are very respected, I had a lot of free time to visit nearby towns and even other cities, and even Luuk took us to some places. The acomodattion is big, there is plenty of space to work and even to relax. Heeg is a charming, small and quiet town. I really enjoyed being in Heeg, which is partly because all the volunteers got along very well, they brought me a great experience and memories for life.

This was my first worldpackers experience and Luuk couldn't have made it more welcoming. The work was straight forward and if you had any questions Luuk was always happy to help. His hospitality and kindness made Heeg feel like a home away from home. We got full freedom of our day which allowed me to explore Heeg and surrounding villages. The people in and outside of the restaurant were very welcoming and I was able to immerse myself in their culture. I was also able to meet many people and made life long friends. The time i spent in Heeg will be an experience I'll never forget

This was my first worldpackers experience and I couldn't have asked for a better one. The work was laid back and easy, Luuk and the other volunteers were super kind and helpful and the customers were very friendly. Heeg is a beautiful little village, there isn't a whole lot to do in it, but there are near by towns with more to do that you can get to easily on bike or bus. I learnt a lot, made friends from all over the world and had such a good time. I'm so grateful for the time I spent in Heeg and I hope to come visit again someday :)

Here was my first experience of volunteering. Calm, safe and cozy - with these three words I can describe the whole atmosphere of this place I am very grateful to Luuk for his hospitality. He is a responsive and positive person. You can ask questions and be sure that everything will be explained to you without complaints. On weekends, he was happy to show us the surroundings, during working hours he shared stories from life and his huge experience We created a small family with the guys we worked with. Thank you for such an incredible opportunity to find friends from all over the world

The best time to visit this place is in summer season, Luuk is a very friendly person who will help you for sure with everything you need. We had two meals, actually pretty tasty and the liberty to do whatever we want in the off-hours. Nice place to stay if you want to take a rest from the big city's and make bond with new people from around the world.

Everything was good during my stay, at first I didn't feel safe because it was my first volunteering and I didn't know anything about restaurant things and one day I made a mistake in an order and Luuk got angry but then I learned more and everything was better But apart from all this, he was attentive on the day of arrival and picked us up at the train station in Sneek and in the same way at the end of the volunteering

DO NOT come here. It's not a safe or positive environment. Luuk fired me at 2:30 am in the morning as I was standing there in my towel, dripping wet, having just gotten out of the shower. It was only my 5th night in Heeg. I was a great waitress & got along with my coworkers & the customers. 2 nights prior, Luuk banged extremely loudly on the shower door at 2:00 am, angry at the length of shower I was taking. He woke up the other worldpackers & ranted to me about how I didn't fit in & was always doing my own thing. He waived off my concerns about his inappropriate behavior during the night.

Luuk replied

It was very unpleasant having Claire in our team.
She didn’t listen, did her own things, wasn’t dressed properly and was all the times too late starting her work.
She also could talking with our guests for more than a half hour and the other Worldpackers have to do the work. I asked her friendly to leave after 3 days and I was very happy she did. I absolutely do not recommend her to other hosts!!
Regarding her review, please read all the others…..
It’s obvious she didn’t fit in the Worldpackers team!
