Helping in my restaurant

Mexico

Everything was good during my stay, at first I didn't feel safe because it was my first volunteering and I didn't know anything about restaurant things and one day I made a mistake in an order and Luuk got angry but then I learned more and everything was better But apart from all this, he was attentive on the day of arrival and picked us up at the train station in Sneek and in the same way at the end of the volunteering

DO NOT come here. It's not a safe or positive environment. Luuk fired me at 2:30 am in the morning as I was standing there in my towel, dripping wet, having just gotten out of the shower. It was only my 5th night in Heeg. I was a great waitress & got along with my coworkers & the customers. 2 nights prior, Luuk banged extremely loudly on the shower door at 2:00 am, angry at the length of shower I was taking. He woke up the other worldpackers & ranted to me about how I didn't fit in & was always doing my own thing. He waived off my concerns about his inappropriate behavior during the night.

It was very unpleasant having Claire in our team.
She didn’t listen, did her own things, wasn’t dressed properly and was all the times too late starting her work.
She also could talking with our guests for more than a half hour and the other Worldpackers have to do the work. I asked her friendly to leave after 3 days and I was very happy she did. I absolutely do not recommend her to other hosts!!
Regarding her review, please read all the others…..
It’s obvious she didn’t fit in the Worldpackers team!

It was a great experience! Work is fair and easy to catch up and it is respected. Luuk is accessible and understanding and he'd show us around on free days. The village is very cozy and welcoming and it is very easy to get to bigger towns and stations by bus.

I am so grateful that I had this experience and that it was my first trip outside of my home country. Luuk's commitment to allowing his guests full freedom of their day and his support for everyone's needs made this opportunity very idyllic. His hospitality coupled with the quaintness of Heeg made for the perfect trip. Honestly, this trip changed my life and I highly encourage others to take part in this position.

I spent one month here in Heeg working in the restaurant. I came with absolutely no experience on being a waiter, and the volunteers here explained me everything and helped me all the time until I became a real waiter. Moreover, Heeg is quiet and beautiful, the volunteers are awesome (I learned a lot about different countries and their cultures, which helped me to grow up) and Luuk is always ready for anything you may need. In summary my stay in Heeg was wonderful, and thought me a lot of valuable lessons for my future life.

Etej de Noratij was a wonderful experience. Luuk is a very patient person who will try to teach you everything you don't understand. It's usually a new experience for everyone to work in the kitchen or at the tables, so you end up learning everything. Also, improve my English and German a lot because you are always in contact with people from all over. In the village everyone is very friendly, which allows you to connect with the dutch culture more easily. I can only thank Luuk and all my colleagues for such a rewarding experience.

My experience with luuk and the other volunteers in Heeg was incredibly amazing. It was my first worldpackers trip and im sure there wasnt a better first one. I learnt how to be a waitress with the best team! Luuk also took us to an island in one of our days off. I learnt many things about volunteering and i figured out many things about myself. Im really grateful about everything i experienced there and the friends i made. So if you want to be in a peaceful village while you spend a great time working and enjoying, i recommend you this!

It's hard to find a flaw for this experience. The conditions were amazing, from the accommodation itself to the food that Luuk cooks. The work is simple and easy, I found it interesting and learned a lot. Heeg itself is a small but busy place, with lovely lakes and parks, and a good chance to meet the locals and the authentic lifestayle in the Netherlands. Also, Luuk took us on a trip to some interesting place in Netherlands almost every week. We share the tip among the volunteers, but Luuk also gives us pocket money every week, so I even earned some money accidentally.

The host is a home away from home. Luuk is a wonderful and welcoming host, with a beautiful home and restaurant. At the host you have the opportunity to meet amazing people, locals and other travelers . I could not have picked a better first Worldpackers experience and am not ready to leave. Here you become part of an amazing and efficient team/family serving and socializing with customers from all over. The work is very enjoyable and straight forward, with reliable hours. The living area is very nice and clean, with beautiful views out every window
