The Experience
Last year we had a lot of time and helping hands to build our edible garde project here at the hostel. We have a large area planted with native species like yuca, banana, platano, malanga, etc. a funcioning compost system and a compost toilet. We are looking for experienced hands to get the garden back into shape and producing more edible plants and vegetables. We also have fruit trees that need to be planted in public spaces.

After this past month volunteering at Planet Conservation, I'm struggling to put into words this life changing experience. It wasn't just about finding the lodge buddies; I found a supportive family who encouraged me to personally grow. Living in a sustainable and caring community like we do at Casa Caraibe is really unique; something I wish anyone to experience once! On top of that, I got the chance to be involved on the Recycling Project promoting the use of a circular economy where I got the chance to learn a lot and have a concrete positive impact. Thank you to the PV team for welcoming me!

La experiencia fue inmejorable. Fede y Beate son unas grandísimas personas, nos hicieron sentir parte de su familia, disfrutamos cada momento y vimos que los proyectos en los que trabajamos tenían una repercusión real. Nos llevamos grandes momentos, enseñanzas de vida y por supuesto grandes amigos, Vicky, Dani y Rei, fueron un apoyo fundamental, comenzaron la experiencia siendo nuestros managers y terminaron siendo muy buenos amigos con los que disfrutar cada momento, ellos son increíbles. El resto del equipo también es único y tenemos mucho que agradecerles Santos, Marlene, Yomari… 😊

Creo que algunos puntos por mejorar como la comunicación y compañerismo , solo me quede como 1 semana y media , cumplí con mis horas de trabajo pero no hubo buena conexión por falta de inclusión sentí eso , igualmente el lugar es muy lindo

Fue una excelente experiencia para mi como primer voluntariado, ya que tenía la libertad para realizar actividades entretenidas con los niños, los encargados se preocuparon de darme un espacio privado con comodidades para el entorno selvático y siempre me sentí parte de la familia de planet conservation. Por otro lado, pude dejar mi granito de arena en la comunidad de calle bertó e incentivar a los niños a que busquen nuevos intereses y conozcan parte de mi cultura.
