The Experience

We are a yoga association and guesthouse and we look for proactive volunteers who help us with reception tasks and cleaning. We offer yoga classes and other holistic activities. We offer also the volunteers the chance to teaching yoga and doing any other activities that match with the guesthouse vibe. We are like a little big family and there is a relaxed and nice vibe around. We are in paradise, surrounded by natural pools and a park.

The job is very easy and manageable, I got to spend every day doing yoga, at the beach, doing hikes, cooking and hanging out with guests! Felt like paradise! I really enjoyed my time at Casa Calma. I felt comfortable right from the beginning. With the other two volunteers I shared a small room, but actually we almost just slept in there and most of the time stayed outside at the rooftop, which is perfect for chilling. I also really liked the opportunity to do Yoga, either when there was a class or just on my own. The work was just as agreed. Sometimes there's quite a lot to do, when there are many people leaving, but within the four free days there's enough time to recover and also explore the beautiful nature in and around Agaete.

My experience at Casa Calma was really nice. The house itself has a calm and inviting energy and people are so warm and friendly. The work was exactly as agreed upon and the volunteer room was cozy. I would recommend making sure that you are comfortable speaking Spanish so that you can engage with the people, the volunteers and the community more. It can feel isolating if you cant communicate. There were a lot of opportunities to travel around the island, however the bus system can be unreliable sometimes so I would recommend renting a car if you have the means and a license to do so.

Agaete, un pueblo hermoso, tranquilo y lleno de encanto. El entorno es ideal naturaleza, playa y un ritmo más pausado. Pacté trabajar 15 horas semanales, pero terminé trabajando al menos 21 horas solo durante un fin de semana. Las tareas eran excesivas para hacer una sola persona, la dueña en Barcelona. Decidí finalizar mi voluntariado antes de tiempo porque no se respetaron los acuerdos iniciales. Aprecio la oportunidad y creo que es importante que futuro voluntarios sepan a qué se pueden enfrentar, especialmente en épocas de alta demanda, mejor organización y respeto x los límites volunta.
