Help at our hostel in sunny Lisbon, Portugal :)

I had a great time during my 5 weeks stay, I did the night shift (3 nights of work 6 days off) and it was a great choice for me - way more free time, less hard work. Overall I'd rate my stay highly but mostly due to the amazing people I've met there, the volunteers were like a family. I won't give the experience 5 stars as the hostel in itself is badly organized which often caused problems for the volunteers. Moreover, after midnight there is no place for volunteers to hangout outside the bedroom which caused some conflicts between volunteers and management. But the staff is really nice!

It's a welcome and chill atmosphere with the employees and volunteers. Everybody is friendly and respectful. It's a nice experience for new volunteers. First two or three days can be confusing, but afterwards you get everything. It's a great experience for meeting people and doing party. Thanks

My time at UGH was amazing. As soon as I arrived I felt immediately welcomed by the other volunteers and the staff as well. My only problem was the food they provide: it is not enough for all the volunteers, so if you are traveling on a budget like me, this is a factor to count with. Overall my priority was the atmosphere of the place and the connections I was able to make, so I left with nothing but good memories and I would absolutely return in the future. Thank you so much for this experience UGH Team!❤️❤️

Thank you the hostel for the experience! I did find the work to be physically demanding even during low season. We made around 30 beds per shift, but it is 40-50 beds during peak season. There is another building down the street that we had to walk to multiple times during a shift. The posting says 25h/week and 3 days off per week, but the hours are sometimes more, up to 30 hours, and it is often 2 days off per week not 3. I wish the hostel+team the absolute best! I met some really amazing people and still had a good time overall. Thank you again <3

Heyy! This was my second volunteering experience. I met so many great people ❤️ We were 8 volunteers(the best part🥂). The work is: doing the beds it was usually between 30-50 beds and it was always for 2 people, then helping with check-ins and showing guests around, they also have a second building which is few minutes up the street. I personally felt sometimes really exhausted after the work so just keep in mind that sometimes it can feel like a normal job. Also the food they provided wasn't usually enough. Anyway the UGH team is great and they are trying to listen to us!Thank you!! ❤️

Loved the hostel and the team! This was my first volunteer experience and I'm happy that it was with UGH. The hostel was clean, comfortable, and located perfectly. It's a relatively calm place if you're looking to relax but there is always someone down to do something so you'll rarely be bored. Lisbon is gorgeous with a million and one viewpoints and great food. A few things to keep in mind is that the listing is not 100% accurate, there are a few more hours than stated here, and there is a second building about a 3 min walk up the street you will have to tend to as well. Enjoy!!

I am so grateful to the hostel & the whole staff for this volunteer experience!! 🥹🫶🏼 Izzy, Marcus, Alejandra, Kessya & all the volunteers are amazing and I am going to miss them so much! The work shifts are very fair & since it was the slow season, very minimal work. The hostel is also very clean and well taken care of! I highly recommend this for both new or more experienced travelers, if you want to experience a big family vibe at a really nice hostel. The location is right in the middle of the city and walking distance to so many beautiful places! Obrigado UGH ❤️❤️

My time volunteering at UGH was amazing. The staff is fantastic, the tasks are easy, and as I did the night shift, I had lots of free time to explore the city. Originally, I planned to stay for just a month, but I ended up staying almost 4 months. Big thanks to Izzy and Alejandra for being so supportive, creating a wonderful atmosphere. It feels like home, like family. Obrigado! 🤍

This volunteering was my favorite so far! Staying for two months at the hostel was the best decision and I'm happy that I was able to extend my stay! The energy of the hostel and of the volunteers and the staff is amazing and you easily bond with everyone there! I'm so grateful for volunteering there and for the friends that I made. My experience was so amazing that I can't wait to go back volunteering in the hostel. The volunteering in the hostel is a good exchange, you'll be able to walk around Lisboa, making new friends and work in a good environment. I highly recomment it
