Description

The Experience
We are keepers of a special space of life in the Tropical Dry Forest of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, which is also home of the magical jaguar. This is a Natural Reserve where there are many things to do, so we expect volunteers to be very active and passionate about planting and helping take care of our nature. Most of the activities we carry out are related to planting, but sometimes we need help with infraestructure and maintenance.

The volunteering in the fundacion is wonderful and unique. Living in nature is something everybody should experience. The way how everything is organised is organic and based on trust. Every day is different, and if you open yourself you can receive so much from the mountains, the river, the animals around. Giving and receiving. I am so grateful for the knowledge that has been shared and the trust that was given to me. I enjoyed the community living, cooking with the volunteers, learning Spanish, and even walking up and down was something I enjoyed. Thank you so much, Fulmar and Ray.

The family is very welcoming and truly warm from the heart. I didn't stay a long time, because I realized quickly that it was not the perfect moment for me to commit to a certain place for longer and they were extremely understanding about it. This is an amazing place to practice your Spanish and learn about the nature and reforestation. They also have one of the best sunset view spots ever. I appreciate very much getting to know you and I wish you all the best for the future. <3

Fulmar y ray son unas personas increibles, te hacen sentir como de la familia. los valores que se viven aqui es de respeto, dialogo, compromiso, comunicacion asertiva y buena vibra. las tareas se realizan principalmente en la mañana y el resto del tiempo tienes para disfrutar del ambiente de la naturaleza o actividades de occio. lo que si debes tener en cuenta es que el lugar es retirado de la ciudad, por ende es para personas que son aventureras y descomplicadas pues ellos tienen una ideologia del desarrollo sostenible, optimisacion del agua, luz y servicios en general.

Mi experiencia en la la reserva fue muy enriquecedora. Se trata de un proyecto de gran impacto ambiental y social, por lo que para mí fue una gran oportunidad para aprender sobre ecología/ ambientalismo con enfoque popular y de justicia social. Fulmar y Ray, al igual que Wawa y Majagua son una familia encantadora y acogedora. Son muy flexibles y comprensivos con los procesos individuales, por lo que siempre es posible dialogar para llegar a acuerdos comunitarios con relación a las actividades y a la vida común. Agradezco profundamente por cada experiencia que viví allí.
