The Experience

We are John and Derek from the Netherlands who have moved to the beautiful Charente. We are looking for enthusiastic travelers/volunteers to help us with restoration and gardening work We ask energetic hands-on help, handyman. You do not need to have special skills because the work varies from sanding, painting, demolition to cleaning. We are also looking for help in our forest & garden. We hope you'll want to be part of our team

I can't even explain how special this volunteering was! Derek and jonh are amazing, they helped me directly with my English daily, John cooks amazing food, and I had experiences with nature that only photos can explain, Thank you John and Derek, for the opportunity to spend these 2 weeks with you

Derek and John are two lovely guys with a huge project 'their Chatau' and a lovely dog, Pino! The project requires all parties to be flexible: whatever is needed, needs to be done. All kind of different handyman tasks, you can choose what fits you best. There is time and (a lot of space) for yourself (walk, talk, explore). To me the perfect combination!

This was my first volunteering, and the experience was terrible, we even had to trigger the worldpackers insurance. The works are completely different from the description. they don't want volunteers, they want workers. They even yelled at us, until they technically kicked us out, saying that we had to see the passage because it wouldn't work. From the bottom of my heart, don't go to this place, here on the platform there are so many other completely amazing ones. Any questions you can message me.

We feel very sorry for Thiago & Juliana, they didn't know where France is. Unfortunately we had to babysit them and wish them all the best. But don't expect that they are able to communicate or work a little, they rather like their phone ;-))

Mto bem recebido pelo Anfitrião Derek: Atencioso, carismático. Estrutura geral do espaço FABULOSA! Tive dificuldades de 'relacionamento' com o 2º anfitrião (ele Sr Holandês, + velho, perfeccionista e mto EXIGENTE com o trabalho). Experiência não atingiu FINALIDADES de "trocas solidárias"... Mas me ajudou a compreender as relações 'decoloniais' ainda presentes ali... (Fui um AfroBrasileiro em solo Francês, com Anfitriões da cultura Holandesa). Reitero que Derek foi muito acolhedor. Mas tive saida acionada seguro WP (...)
