Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) is a great place to be! Hostel is located not close to the main beach but in the old town and in my opinion most beautiful part of the city. Working in the apartments which were located near to hostel at the beginning seemed a bit hard but after a few days of work it gets easy. I would have preferred if we were provided with some food or being able to leave our job after finishing our daily job tasks. Hostel has a lot of volunteers and guests which makes it easy to socialise. When dealing with some issues manager is doing his best to work it out for you!

I had the best time at the hostel! I was doing the bar and activities, and it's a great way to meet everyone from the hostel. The working hours are great, cause I could visit the island before and party after working. When the bar was closed, I had to do some cleaning that no one ever does, which was not agreed on beforehand. It would have been better to discuss it at the beginning. But the people and the atmosphere are so awesome that it makes it up for it! You meet incredible people in the volunteer team and the guests, which made my experience in Gran Canaria unforgettable.

Great hostel and atmosphere! You get to know a lot of people and have the possibility to connect with the team, which is often big, from 10 to 15 people. Expect to find a lot of guests of various nationalities, not much of a Spanish speaking hostel. Managers are very respectful and treat you well, I was surely welcomed with open arms. They always try to help you and meet your needs and requests. Work time and schedule are fully respected and the job itself is very easy to learn. The hostel is well connected to the bus station and to all the transport you may need.

Communication could be improved, I had to wait long for answers. Arriving was also not smooth, everything felt disorganized. But after a few days everything got into place and it became an amazing experience overall! There is a huge team of volunteers (around 15 people) so you can make friends for sure. The atmosphere in the hostel is great, there is always something going on, there are regular events, so you can meet lots of other travelers and also other people on the island. One of the best hostels to socialize and meet new people! The work itself sometimes can be a lot and hard though.

I thank very much all the people that works in the hostel, because it was a really special adventure. I enjoyed every single second of my staying. The hostel is in a strategic position, not in the city center, but still close to the beach and all the main attractions of the city. Beautiful experience, I would do it again.

My experience at the hostel was good, I actually ended up working at the owners new hostel Compass. Id say your experience is very heavily dependent on the people you meet while being there. Overall I would say it's a very forward exchange, but not a big family vibe. Also dependent on where you work the volunteer dorm is not glorious. But overall I still enjoyed my time! I would definitely have loved to see more effort put into creating a family environment. I'm still very appreciative for my time there. :)

-Big Disclaimer - I applied for the hostel and ended up in Compass House!- The place opened up 3 weeks before I came so there was a lot of unfinished things and the Hostel vibe wasn't there yet. This isn't all bad, everything is brand new, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are Hotel like and the kitchen is really well done. The problem for me was that I was expecting to go to the hostel which already has a well established atmosphere and feels welcoming and alive. The work was okay, the hours were respected but the hostel is completely relying on volunteers to keep it running.

Staying at the hostel was great! We felt very welcome and appreciated. Everybody - host, volunteers and guests - has been so friendly and helpful all the time. Working 25h a week was okay and not too much. The room for the volunteers is very bad but as soon as we asked to get another one, they were courteous and we could sleep in an appropriate room. If you want to experience a real hostel life, I would totally reccommend staying at the hostel.

At first we were a little bit shocked, because we had to sleep in a room called „the cave“. It is a very uncomfortable and dirty room with no place for 10 volunteers. We told it to the manager that we don't feel very comfortable and we were able to switch the rooms. After the change, everything was better. The working tasks in the hostel are easy and fun. I was always in touch with other people and gained a lot of positive experience. The other volunteers were all nice and we had a great time there. I will definitely come back one time! ☺️
