The Experience

We have a beautiful old building in the centre of town that needs to be restored back to its former glory. It is still operating , and has a lovely bohemian atmosphere. Also a big part of your job is to join in on hostel activities & interact with other guests, making them feel welcome and showing them a fun time. We usually have a few volunteers at any one time to form a lovely community.

My stay at the hostelinvolved meeting incredible people, discovering new perspectives, and making life long memories. I'm so grateful to have built such strong connections in such a short amount of time. The only comment I have is the unfortunate lack of respect shown by Beatriz Torres, head of the volunteers, resulting in an uncomfortable environment at times. Aside from her, Kerrie and Nathan were pleasant hosts and Nathan even cooked for us a couple of times. Overall, I had a good stay.

This was my first volunteer experience, and it was the perfect place for it! The owners are very understanding and respectful. Everything that was agreed upon beforehand was honored. The work is very reasonable and manageable. The hostel is located within only a 10-minute walk of three grocery stores. There is a nice, spacious library only a 7-minute walk away if you are an online student like me or a remote worker. There's also reliable wifi at the hostel. The beach is a 10-minute walk away. I honestly could not have even asked for a better situation. I highly recommend this experience.

Nathan & Kerrie are lovely and treat both the guests and the volunteers like family. I stayed in the hostel for 4 weeks and absolutely loved my time there. 100 % recommendation, especially if you like dogs and the beach. The work was always easy and fair. They just expect you to fulfil your tasks conscientiously. Thank you for the opportunity and experience! I am definitively coming back :)

I had great 4 weeks in Wollongong, Kerrie and Nathan were super friendly and nice! The work was simple and easy. Their dog Indy was definitely one of the highlights, we loved taking her for walks. The nearby beaches were amazing too, so overall, an awesome experience with great people and a nice place to stay !!
