Staying with Mike and Tanja was an amazing experience. They were so kind and welcomed me with open arms. It was a really peaceful environment and helping Mike in the garden was so fun and educational. I got to learn a lot about nature and wildlife, and loved helping with his projects. After working in the morning, you get the day to explore the stunning surrounding area, and Mike also offered to drop me at the bus stop every day. Thank you so much for hosting me and I hope to be back.

I stayed at Mike's for 10 days and had an amazing first Worldpackers experience! He was patient, explained things clearly, and shared his inspiring vision for the garden, which made the work even more meaningful. I learned so much about reusing materials, local wildlife, and the Proserpine area. It's easy to visit Airlie Beach after work, and Mike had awesome tips on what to do. I totally recommend volunteering here!

Our time with Mike was a good break from traveling. We did 3hours of cutting Mango Trees from 7-10 in the morning. After that we jumped into the pool, cooked us some food and relaxed. Mike took us to Proserpine once and offered everyday to take us to the bus stop to Airlie. Mike is a very nice and kind men, who taught us a lot about his "jungle". The work can be a bit exhausting, but still manageable. Definitely prepare yourself for lots of mosquitoes. Bring mosquitos spray, long socks + trousers + good shoes.

Reasonable work load outdoors helping prune and landscape! Mike works with you and teaches you as you go which makes it really educational and collaborative! Food choices are minimal but they have the basics. You cook for yourself and mostly hang by yourself (or with your other volunteer). You work 7-10 am and are free to explore Whitsunday area for whole rest of your day! We spent all our free time in the pool, working on our devices, and watching movies. I learned alot about how to care for mango trees, grow plants from cuttings, and got more comfortable using a hand saw and climbinh trees.

Hours and were super easy and short, only downside to working was the mossies. Bring bug spray. The food is frozen meals that were pretty unappetizing, we just decided to go into town to get groceries. We had to hitch into town because the bikes that he has listed on world packets are not accessible and we didn't know that until we got there. He does offer to take us to the bus stop and pick you up. But it is 50 cents both ways and doesn't accept cards. We didn't meet Tonya but Mike walks around with a sheer wrap around his waist. And naked swims in the pool. Wouldn't recommended for girls.

Well Guys, a disappointing review, it is summer and very hot and we are not a hotel, this is how we live in our natural surroundings.If you read the profile carefully you may have understood the stay is with an Australian family in the Queensland tropics.

My time at Mike's was amazing and I learned a lot. You shouldn't expect it to be easy work, it can be exhausting, but if you're ready to commit to it Mike will teach you a lot about Australian nature and wildlife but also about life in general. All the work gets done in the morning and you have free time afterwards to explore the surroundings and go touristing in Airlie Beach. The experience was definitely different from what I expected but very valuable on so many levels. Thank you Mike for having me and making the past two weeks very interesting and educational.

My time at cedar views was amazing. I really enjoyed my stay here and would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a positive, educational and chill environment in nature. Mike is more than happy to drop you off to the bus stop and give you as many 'tourist days' as you'd like. You have plenty of time to explore! Although the work can make you sweat, it's out the way by mid morning and so rewarding to see the outcome. Mike ensures your comfort and happiness throughout the stay and I couldn't have felt more welcomed. Thankyou for making my time at your home an enjoyable experience.

Mike is a real character, smart, funny, structured and understanding! Work was always straightforward and he taught about useful handy and gardening skills! There were different tasks everyday that it never got boring. We worked in the morning, so there was a lot of spare time left and Mike doesn't hesitate to take you to the bus stop every day. Visiting Airlie Beach is really worth it and there are also little hikes around with great views on the islands. I can recommend this experience for everyone who is interested in recycling, nature and sustainability. Thank you Mike for this experience☺

A friend and I stayed with Mike for 3 weeks and we had a great time! Learned so much about nature and gained lots of knowledge and skills about building and maintaining around the house! Felt welcome and had many good laughs and was very accommodating and flexible. Thanks Mike!
