My first volunteering gig at the hostel Cooly was a total blast. Despite the hostel's slightly distant location and the journey from Surfers Paradise being quite long (over an hour by bus), the experience was amazing thanks to the awesome managers, Ebonie and Erin, who were both super cool and respectful of our hours. Shoutout to the fellow volunteers for forming a strong team. Most of my tasks were cleaning and housekeeping, which was straightforward but sometimes tiring. Ebonie and Erin, you made the hostel Cooly feel like a second home, and I'm eager to return for more!

I had such an amazing experience here. Ebonie and the entire crew were so welcoming and I felt very at home. The tasks were exactly as described, and the environment of the hostel is very friendly. I definitely recommend this hostel <3

I had a great stay at the hostel! Working at the hostel is perfect if you have another job as well and a great to meet other travellers. I met some amazing people from all over the world while working there. You need to be aware that you need to take the bus pretty much everywhere but it is just on the other side of the road so it is pretty easy.

I had a really good time staying here and met some great people during my time, Erin and Ebony were extremely flexible and allowed for time to do other explorations of the country. The work was clear and not too overwhelming with help easily available as well. The beaches and town are very beautiful and a perfect place to spend time during travels!

Me and Ben had such a good stay here, where we met some really great people and friends. The work was great and reasonable with Ebonie and Erin being great hosts, the beach is only a 2 minute walk across the road and buses run 24 hours a day which made socialising and doing activities easier. We would recommend anyone who wants a nice chill experience to volunteer here and I'm sure we will be back at some point in the future.

The experience was what expected, Ebonie was a wonderful host and made the hostel an easy and fun environment to stay at. It is a quite place where you can carry your routine in tranquillity (perfect if you have a job and are not looking for sleepless nights), but Shelly is truly great at organizing fun events to make the place joyful. Having three days off makes it a good schedule, but I did find the host to be particularly strict about the work and the communication with the volunteers was not relaxed at times. It is indeed far from the city, but it is very close to the airport.

I really enjoyed this experience as my first workaway! it was pretty straightforward housekeeping work and they worked really well with all the volunteers to schedule us with the schedule that fit our week best, which I really appreciated. Location was very close to the beach, but not a much happening area - would recommend renting a bike/buying a bike while there! the bus works, but it can get a little spendy.

We had the best time at the hostel, it truly felt like a family and by the end of our time there we were so sad to leave. The work was demanding but fulfilling, and scheduling was very flexible and mellow. Ebonie and Erin run a fantastic hostel, and the people we met there will definitely be our lifelong friends. We were able to see the Gold Coast, along with other parts of Australia, and will hopefully get a chance to go back sometime:)

Coolangatta is a lovely place to volunteer. Everybody is so friendly and the tasks are understandable and well instructed. I was able to change my shifts or start it later / earlier. This flexibility is just amazing! The staff group was nice and because of the bus stop next to the hostel, you just got endless opportunities to come around at the Gold Coast. I'm very thankful for my time and I will definitely come back one day! :)
