The Experience

The volunteer will be one who needs to take care of our orphan children and old age people (: You can plan activities with the children, like craft or anything you can teach them that will help them develop new skills using their surroundings. Evening language-teaching sessions and games will also be good. But most important is just spending time chatting, helping and enjoying our peaceful life in Little Flower Mercy Home.

My partner and I had a wonderful time volunteering at LFMH through World Packers! The host encourages you to explore your interests, but you need to take initiative and manage your time. After a few days, we found a rhythm, helping at the farm, organizing study sessions with kids, and chatting with the older gentlemen. The host made us feel at home with delicious meals and a cozy private room. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we can't wait to return!

Initially I felt a bit lost as the roles of volunteers weren't clear. However, I quickly realized the importance of planning. The children are in school during the day, so volunteers can engage in various activities like helping in the kitchen, caring for animals, supporting fundraising efforts, or spending time with the elderly both women and men who often need company and activities as most volunteers only spend time with the children. The NGO staff is warm and welcoming, treating us like family. The older ones and the children are very easy to get attached to. We will see you soon.

The kids were so lovely. After the kids come from school you can do activities with them! They are willing to learn new things.

The location of the organization is perfect. The host is cooperative and asks you to do tasks you are comfortable with. Depaul's family has welcomed me with open arms and treated me like one of them. Children love talking to the volunteers and are eager to learn, and they are trained very well by Dijo and Ansen. Even the men's ward people were ready to interact, but I couldn't due to the language barrier. Depaul encouraged me to visit the nearby tourist places and even offered to accompany me. Overall, my experience here is like a once-in-a-lifetime thing.
