I had an amazing time with Maria, Alessio, and all the volunteers I shared the experience with. Our little family had so much fun, it was really easy to connect with everyone and feel at home! I was part of the breakfast team, working from 7am to 11am, which was great because it left the whole day free to enjoy Lecce and its surroundings. Lecce is a perfect headquarters to explore Puglia, it's super easy to travel by train or bus and make the most of your time ! They are also very flexible with days off, which makes planning even easier. Thank you for your warm welcome <3

I had a great experience volunteering here. The other volunteers became my family and it was really nice to get to know Puglia! I was on the breakfast shift which was great because I had the rest of the day to go to the nearby beaches. Sometimes you will be working alone when the other volunteer has a day off which can be a bit overwhelming if there are a lot of guests and the hours felt unfair compared to the cleaning shift as they only worked 2 hours while I worked 4. Also, the center of Lecce is about a 30 minute walk and there are no bikes to use despite them advertising it.

Thankyou so much to Alessio and Maria. My time at the hostel was just as relaxing and restorative as I hoped it would be. I was in the housekeeping team and the work and hours were very achievable. Each day I had most of the afternoon to myself to explore Lecce and surrounding Puglia. The only drawbacks that were notable was the power disparity between the volunteers and Alessio. Quite often guests would ask for my assistance and unfortunately I wasn't given the tools to satisfy their requests. More than once I ran into small issues with Alessio over his mantra of “rules don't need reasons”.

I had a great stay at the hostel. The work is manageable and the hours are fair. One thing to keep in mind is that the city center is a good 25-minute walk away. The hostel description on Worldpackers says that they provide bikes, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible during my stay. What's great about this experience is that there are four volunteers, which gives it a family feel. There are many beautiful places in the area and stunning beaches.
