I have nothing to complain about the employees, they work more than they're supposed to. However, we had to leave 2 months earlier because in addition to working the night shift, without any days off, we also had 4 extra shifts during the day (not previously arranged). There also happened to be activities during free time (mandatory). We tried to talk to the owner, but what was offered was not equivalent. When we left we found out that the complaints we made weren't even broughten up to the manager. We felt disrespected. It's a pity because the hostel has potential.

Hi Luana!

We have already talked a lot about this situation with you guys, and we tried our best to solve the miscommunication and the different expectations you had. In the end you even mentioned that you would write a positive review, if I would do the same. So, I am pretty surprised that you guys did not return your end of the deal.

And again, leaving the hostel in the middle of the night is not a choice I would have made. Giving us no time to find a replacement for a nightshift while we thought the problems were solved. ;)

I had a great experience with all the other volunteers, and loved our daily dinners together! We also had lunch together everyday, which was nice. The communication and organization with the management team could've been better. The work isn't difficult, but they expect you to work a lot during the week, so it's longer hours than many other volunteer jobs. Keep in mind that the hours are quite set, so if you have other responsibilities or jobs, it can be difficult to balance at times. We were able to find a compromise so that I could still work my remote job, which I am thankful for.

Hi Kaitlyn,
Thanks for your review! ;)

I do however think it's good to clarify for everyone that the hours are as described as in the Worldpackers, and I also explain them again during a videocall. That's why it also came as quite a surprise to hear last minute that you weren't able to work 2 out of the 3 shifts that we described! Luckily we could find a agreement that worked for both of us! Besides that, after being with us for two weeks, you texted me saying that you found an apartment and was leaving us the next week...

Glad I have the opportunity to respond to your review Kaitlyn! I wish you all the best for your future. :)

I felt so welcome the second I arrived, Julia was so eager to show me around. I learnt a lot about Dutch culture! Loved the bikes especially! The accommodation was great, very spacious and the facilities were very clean. ๐Ÿงผ the kitchen was well equipped. It was easy to get around as the train station was only a 3 minute walk from the hostel. The staff and volunteers felt like family to me throughout the whole experience, I've definitely made friends for life, highly recommend. Dankjewel, veel liefs!

Going to the hostel has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. the hostel is a place full of super good energy and people. They treat you very well since the first moment. About the work, it is easy, anyone can do it. Schedules are well organized and flexible. There is also Julia, the worker in charge of the volunteers, who will be always there to help and listen to you. She does a great job so that all the volunteers and staff can form a family. Seriously, go to the hostel, u will be part of an incredible team and u will learn a lot. You won't regret it. I now have a second home โ™ฅ
