The Experience

Main tasks consist of restaurant, housekeeping (rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, toilets etc.), and jobs to maintain the site. We also need help in our very busy cafe in Glenorchy with a B&B in the garden. Work includes barista, serving food & drinks, taking orders and cleaning the B&B. Other work may include general maintenance/odd jobs, such as chopping wood, cutting branches, mowing lawns, weeding etc. We try to use your skills as best we can.

This was my first time using Worldpackers, and I had a great time overall. Initially, I thought it was a volunteer opportunity, but it turned out to be a paid position, which was a nice surprise. Toni John, and T were amazing and made me feel like part of the family. Working in the mountains was refreshing, and it was cool to meet staff from all over the world. One thing to note is that the guest house is quite remote, so having a car would definitely be helpful. Overall, I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a unique adventure and a friendly atmosphere!

This is short-term employment. If you think otherwise you will likely be disappointed, but with that understanding they are great.

Thanks Jarod, we do try to make it clear that this is a business so thank you for reinforcing that and for all your work.

We loved our time at the guest house! The people and the scenery are absolutely lovely, we made lots of friends and enjoyed exploring the lake. Prepare yourself for hard work - we walked into this experience thinking it was a volunteer programme, but this is a paid job and a business, so there are expectations of quality work. However, there is great flexibility depending on your skill set, and we tried out a variety of roles. Everyone was very accommodating and you receive good training, so no need to worry about being an expert. Own transport recommended! Overall we highly recommend the guest house!!

Toni and John run an exceptional hotel. I'll miss John's fabulous homemade bread and the glacial lake at my doorstep. All the staff are all such great people and thanks to our manager T, work and training went smoothly and I felt totally supported during my stay. As my first world packer experience, I couldn't recommend this enough.

The guest house is a beautiful location to spend a few weeks. The people I met during my time were the highlight of my experience. The work was always enjoyable, and there are plenty of hours going if you want to earn a bit of extra money here.
