I really enjoyed the time in this hostel. It is located in a calm and small town, so it's perfect to relax and slow down a bit. There are beautiful beaches close to the hostel and if you like to hike, you'll get to even more beautiful beaches (or you can go with a boat too). The job is to be at the reception and do check-in and check-outs. There are some small tasks you might do as well, but it's very chill and easy :)

I had a nice time in Las Galeras. The owner, Barbara is very nice and flexible, the full-time staff is also very welcoming. The town is kinda small, there aren't many things to do, it's more like a chill place. However there are some excursions you can take with a discount :) shifts are easy, you need to do administration at the reception, help changing bedsheets, other small tasks. If you have any problems, you can talk to the staff and they will help, everyone is very kind. I recommend to buy earplugs for the night, not only for staying here, but staying in the DR in general

This hostel for me has been a home away from home. Out of all my experience traveling and volunteering at 14 different hostels, this is probably in my top 2. I felt so welcomed since my first day and las galeras is a lovely little corner of the world. Can't recommend enough!

The hostel itself is a nice place with great people who made my stay a lot better. My work tasks were easy once I knew the routine of each shift and working hours were respected. However, I did not enjoy Las Galeras as a place. Of course, the beaches are nice but for me that does not make up for all the men shouting disgusting things at me whenever I was walking down the street. I've been travelling Latin America for a long time but never saw a country were it was a bad as it is here. In total, I think other people might have a great time staying here but it simply wasn't my place to be.

This was an amazing experience and it was my first time volunteering. the hostel is such a great spot and Barbara was a great host and supported me through the had task of learning Spanish. It is possible to succeed in this position not knowing a lot of Spanish but it was a very very difficult experience for me. The other volunteers and the locals we met were the greatest part of this experience for me. I made so many memories I will never forget and life long friendships! Las Galeras is an amazing town with so much to explore and learn.
