The hostel is a wonderful, atmospheric place that's the perfect spot to base yourself for exploring the surrounding Highlands. I met many wonderful, interesting people during my 6 weeks there and had a great relationship with the rest of the team. The tasks and working hours expected of you as a volunteer are very fair, so you'll have plenty of free time to see all the charm and culture that the hostel offers. Thanks again to everyone who made my introduction to Scotland so easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend this experience!

I stayed for a month and it was a great time. Everyone was super nice and it was so easy to feel at home. The hostel is great and the hostel was a lovely place to stay. I will look back on this time with a big smile.

As my first experience, I can truly say it was amazing. I met so many great people, practiced both English and Spanish, and explored beautiful places surrounded by abundant nature. The hotel is simply wonderful. It made me feel at home from the very first day. It's super comfortable, and the hospitality from Jason, Eloise, and Gordon made everything even better. They are such kind, welcoming people. I dare say I'll truly miss the warm and cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend this experience. It was safe, enriching, and truly unforgettable. :)

I really enjoyed my time here. It was a great group of people, and I had a lot of fun. You do only get one day off, so exploring can be a bit difficult. But overall, I had such a good time. You get to meet a lot of people, and the hostel is so welcoming. If you are thinking of going, you should!

My time at the hostel was great! The people I met were wonderful and the location is perfect. It is right next to the city but has lots of opportunities to visit the nearby nature. The work was easy and well organized and the manager Jason was always kind and flexible. Would highly recommend!

Gordon was rude, arrogant and nasty. We had a conflict one time and when I tried to address it, his response was to yell at me in front of guests and intimidate me. His attitude caused me nothing but anxiety. He regularly gossiped about me to the other volunteers. I believe he was homophobic because he was really close with everyone else, I didn't feel like I could talk to anyone. IF YOU ARE A GAY GUY! And you apply to volunteer here, Skye, Fort William, Pitlockery, or Oban and Gordon is the manager, DONT VOLUNTEER THERE! This is a company that moves staff around and he is getting promoted.

My stay at the hostel ended abruptly without warning, mediation, or discussion. Communication and support from the management were insufficient and inconsistent, making tasks and collaboration challenging. The dorm was disorganised and unprepared. I felt unwelcome, excluded, and disrespected throughout my stay. The host could improve by using non-violent communication techniques, clear instructions, and inclusive support for volunteers with diverse learning or communication styles. Future volunteers may find it helpful to clarify expectations and proceed with caution.

I loved every moment of this experience and would love to come back someday!! The atmosphere at the hostel and within the team was amazing and the work was always fair. Emma and Jason always made sure that you could have the day off you requested, so I was able to easily explore the surrounding area and go hiking. It really felt like a home away from home with the cosy communal area, the free tea/hot chocolate and all the wonderful people. :)

This has been My first experience as Volunteer in My life and I LOVED This place. Emma and Jason are the Best hosts. Although my English is very basic, they were always patient with me and helped me learn new words. It was possible to organize shifts to visit other cities. The staff guys are wonderful. I will be immensely grateful for this great opportunity. I will miss the hostel Studen Hostel and your so cute people.🤗🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🫀🇨🇴
