I really enjoyed my stay at the farm. I met incredible people from all over the world and the locals were just so kind and giving. I really felt at home. The work was harder than I expected especially because of all the walking that was needed to change the horses of fields, but it was so fulfilling. We had a little issue with our beds but otherwise everything was perfect. The horses were great too. I really recommend this place if you like to walk, meet new people, want to learn spanish, know how to ride horses and are open-minded. This experience will leave you speechless!

I worked for Alejandro, a friend of Rodrigo. He is very lovely, generous and experienced with horses. I was training his 8 horses for two weeks. I had my own room and bathroom. If you are willing to work and are a very good and experienced rider - this is a truly great place. If you are rather looking for a "chill place" to just have a good time with horses - you'd better look somewhere else! Alejandro has a lot of energy and showed me around in Quito and the riding clubs during my stay with him. I have had a very good time at his place and can recommend him to good riders by heart ❤️

Hola Eva,

I had a great time at the farm ! The team working there was very lovely and took care of us as volunteers, especially Franklin and Veronica. I learned a lot on horses, however we were unlucky because of the strikes Rodrigo wasn't able to come as much as he wanted. The job is very physical, it's about 8h/day, and we didn't get to ride horses a lot (+/- twice a week) so it can be a bit frustrating if you want to ride a lot. I also went to Alejandro's house and had a lovely time there riding horses and learning from him.

Hola Louisa,
Gracias por tu ayuda en la hacienda. Me gusto conocerte y compartir mas, pero las circunstancias del paro fueron terrorificas, perdimos muchisimo dinero pero finalmente se supero.
Espero haya na proxima oportunidad, seras siempre bienvenida.

I really enjoyed my time at the Hacienda. Veronica, Franklin, and Ezekiel really went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and make sure I was always learning something, never bored, and well taken care of. The Hacienda is beautiful and you get to be immersed in nature every day. It is true that you walk A LOT. At least 4 miles a day. If you are up for hard work, some days very tiring, then this experience is for you. I enjoyed my work here but there are some differences, for example you work about 8 hours a day and ride maybe once or twice a week. Overall I had a nice time :)

Rodrigo replied

Hola Jessica,
Thanks for your comment. Yes, there was not time for riding, specially because of the strikes. Moreover, I know that Ezequiel is not an expert rider and it does not help, I always encourage volunteers to keep some horses near the house and then using them to move the other horses, but Ezequiel does not want to understand this idea.

Thanks for all your help.

For me it was not a good experience. The workers are really nice, but the host not so much. If you expect to ride different horses that are also actually trained well, this wouldn't be the place for you. Horses are very young, but very nice. The riding is only possible with a couple of them. It's also a lot of walking to and from the fields, which wasn't a problem but decide for yourself if this is something for you. You also buy and cook your own food, with exceptions of some products like milk, eggs, bread. The actual training with guidance is not a lot of times. I left earlier.
