This was my first volunteering experience through Worldpackers, and it couldn't have been better. The place is very well located, and the tasks are simple—many times, they are completed earlier than expected, leaving more free time. The staff is amazing: not only were they friendly and always in a great mood, but they also helped me with paperwork and were always willing to lend a hand, whether at work or when going out for a drink. I'm leaving the hostel Guest House very happy and hoping to come back in the future. Big hugs to everyone I'm going to miss you all!

Quick note: I was asked to stay and work at another hostel of this host, Guesthouse Sign, which is bigger and more busy, but very central, it's basically the perfect place to explore Kyoto from! I have thoroughly enjoyed my four weeks stay. Communication with staff has for the most part been good, wishes for free days have always been accommodated and they make an effort to have events together. The dorm is spacious and the beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is great. Work is simple (cleaning baths) but when it's busy, expect to work for the full three hours. You'll be a team though :)

I had a fantastic time here at the hostel. The staff is super friendly, and I immediately felt at home. The working hours are great because you can leave as soon as you're done and go explore the city. There were also several events at the hostel, like a karaoke night and other gatherings, which were a lot of fun. Additionally, the hostel has a great location and a lovely common area. I would recommend it to everyone, especially because the staff is so nice and welcoming.

I had a great time, especially because of the kind and fun staff. The hours were always as agreed upon, below 3h per day. If there are only two people cleaning it takes about 2.5h on less busy days. With three people it's easier and can be done fairly quick, even under two hours on busy days. So, it depends how many helpers are available and on the season. The work itself is very easy and less compared to other experiences I've had. Of course, since it is such a huge international hostel some, people leave more dirt unfortunately. But, overall, I loved it and would highly recommend it. 😊👍

Wira is a good manager and was accommodating of my schedule. Mingma, Tapa and Weng round out an easy-going, competent staff. This is my first work-exchange experience. That said, I would recommend the hostel. There is a kitchen, which will save you a lot of money. There is also a cafe and lounge area which you can use during and after hours. This is Japan, so space is a premium. That said, the tasks are easy enough and it is a premium location.

The hostel is really well placed for seeing Kyoto and the surrounding areas. The team were all pleasant and easy to get along with, and I had fun with both guests and everyone else working there. Work was less than I expected and can incredibly quick, plus you can very quickly pick up what is expected. Any minor issues are things you'd expect in any hostel, like some guests being inconsiderate, and were really minimal. If you want a good time in Kyoto, I definitely recommend the hostel!

It was a good experience, the staff members are nice and friendly. They're also very welcoming of newcomers and often we went out to eat or grab a drink. The work is basic and simple which leaves you plenty of time to go around. Plus the hostel is in a great location to visit Kyoto. Just know that you will be sleeping with everyone and it can get noisy.

The hostel is very well placed and gets you to connect and help a lot of travelers staying for months to a few days. The work is much less than I expected and the staff is welcoming and fun to work with.

The hostel experience was amazing. The guesthouse is located very close to many great spots. The futons are a bit too worn out but that might have been just me. Staff is very pleasant and most speak either fluent or passable English, so communication was very easy. A lot of socializing goes on in the common rooms with other visitors. The work is very comfy and fairly simple. I had a blast and almost wish I could stay longer, definitely will try to return.

Place is not cozy at all. Even guest are not having fun. Most of the staff are not welcoming, some of them never even said hi. Area where is located the hostel is noisy and too crowded. Always hard to leave a Bad review but i really do not recommend. We sleep amongst a 14 beds dormitry. No intimacy really. Also it's very very dirty. Did not have fun.
