Santiago was my third volunteering experience, and it has been my favourite so far! The work is straightforward, with ample free time to enjoy the beautiful city of Hiroshima. Although the guesthouse is situated in a fantastic location, the cosy air-conditioned common room claimed me for many days during the hostel's summer! The staff were always welcoming, understanding, and happy to help on busy days or with shift changes. ¡Gracias y hasta pronto!

My stay at Santiago guesthouse was really enjoyable. I met some great volunteers and the receptionist Mario is so hardworking and a really lovely and genuine guy. You sleep in capsule beds which I personally love. The work is pretty simple after the first few days, and you have training too. Although you finish when the tasks are done, so depending on the volunteers, it might get done slower but Mario is very fair and makes sure the work is divided equally and everyone does their fair share... Overall I really recommend it here, and the location is perfectly central and convenient :)

What do other travelers need to know about this experience? How did your host make you feel? I had an amazing time in Santiago Hostel. The work was really easy and manageable (4 days a week). The team came from different places all over the world and made me feel welcomed right from the beginning. There are so many nice things to do together in and around Hiroshima.

Staying at Santiago was a great experience! I felt at home the moment I arrived. The team was made up of other international volunteers and we all worked really well together. Everyone was friendly and always ready to help each other out. We spent a lot of time together, went to the beach, had a takoyaki night, etc.! The tasks (mostly cleaning) were easy, and we had a set schedule, so we didn't work every day and had plenty of time to explore Hiroshima and the surrounding areas. The location is bonkers, too. You get to meet lots of international and Japanese travelers. Thank you, Santiago! :))
