My time spent at the farm was an incredibly grounding and rewarding experience. From the moment I arrived I felt welcome, John and Lina are wonderful hosts who take interest in and make time for volunteers. The work itself was hands-on, from sorting and peeling the chestnuts, to feeding the animals. There's something satisfying about spending your days outdoors, connecting with nature, and contributing to the farm, while simultaneously learning about agriculture, health and well being, and sustainable farming. This was a great first experience on my volunteer journey!

John and Linda are excellent hosts that really go above and beyond to make sure you feel welcomed and settled in. Their passion for the farm really shows. They gave plenty of advice for the local area and transport, plus home cooked dinners every night. The work alternates daily so was varied when I was there. The farm itself is beautiful and it's so easy to immerse yourself in the nature around. This was my first Worldpackers experience so I didn't know what to expect but the 2 weeks I was there were a real highlight of my travels!

I had a really good time at the farm for the two and a half weeks I spent there. It's a perfect place if you're looking to slow down and reconnect with nature and it's located in a good spot to explore the surrounding area ( as long as you have a car ) You get to learn a lot about the farm and the production process which is fun but also demanding at times, especially during harvest season. Overall, it's a unique and beautiful place and I would definitely recommend it.

My experience at the farm Brea was incredible! The work is so easy, the people are welcoming and so nice and the food is amazing. 🤩 You're out in the nature with lots of animals, stunning sunsets and night sky's! I felt so welcome by everyone, it's a home away from home! I can't recommend it enough!

Leonie was a pleasure to have with us at Chestnut Brae. She is always smiling and easy to get along with, plus she is proactive and is always keen to be involved with other team members getting a task done. She is intelligent and a great team player, easily understanding tasks given to her. We highly recommend Leonie, and we will miss her on the farm, she is great company.

The farm it's truly a special place! John and Linda are wonderful hosts and I felt so welcome. They are open minded, kind hearted and truly caring about the wellbeing of all the volunteers. I am so happy I went during harvest season, as it was great to learn something completely new! (know that it can be hard work at times) One of the highlights was the daily dinners with beautiful meals and great conversation. I am so grateful for this time and wish I could've stayed longer! An experience I'll carry with me forever. Thank you John and Linda!

Aurora was a great team member of the farm and joined in all the activities with enthusiasm. We loved having her on the farm and wish her all the luck moving forward on her journey.
Harvesting is always a challenging period for all farmers ,Aurora jumped straight in and got involved with all the tasks.
It was also fun to discover some secrets from Norway.
Have fun Aurora and we would have you back anytime

My time at the farm was magical to say the least! If you go during harvest (Australian Autumn), expect a lot of work! Can be a bit much if you suffer from any physical stress. Such a beautiful place and I doubt you could find anything similar in any part of the world. John and Linda have added so many cool, peculiar things to their farm. Always something new to find! John and Linda themselves are two of the nicest, most open minded people I've ever met! There will always be something interesting to talk about with them at Dinner. An experience I'll carry with me for the rest of my life!

This was my first ever Worldpackers experience and introduction to farming which I'm so glad I did. John and Linda make you feel apart of their family with how welcoming they are and the sit down dinners each night. The tasks were very straightforward such as hand picking, peeling and grading chestnuts along with helping out at the farm shop and feeding the animals. Would 100% recommend this experience to anyone 😊😊😊

It's was real pleasure to meet Linda and John and learn more about the farm! They really do create a friendly atmosphere, both during the day and at mealtimes (Discovering Australian cuisine through Linda's cooking was a real pleasure) Prepare to be completely immersed in their daily lives on a fairly isolated farm:) Good luck for the rest of your adventures Enola&Cléa

It was an eye-opening experience at the farm, where you will get to learn all about chestnuts. The 6-day work week in harvest season can get pretty tiring and physical but is enjoyable with the right company. The accommodation I stayed in was the shared room in the shed (other accom options include caravans), which was okay as electricity is provided. The open-air bathroom and kitchen shared with the day visitors took some getting-use to as it could get pretty cold at night 😂 The highlights of this farm is being surrounded by nature, admiring the sunrise, sunset & stars daily.
