This was my first volunteer experience with Worldpackers and I was quite scared at the beginning, but Daia and the other volunteers always made me feel at home. I've met so many amazing people from all around the world, each with fantastic stories to share. I've also learned a lot of Portuguese, and Daia was always there to help me improve and get better. The first time I met her, she told me something that now, at the end of this experience, I can truly confirm: the hostel é uma grande família🫶🏻

It's even difficult where to start, my experience at the hostel was incredible and there couldn't be a better place to start this worldpackers adventure. Daiana and Dona Ivete are very nice people and welcomed me like family, the schedules were always respected and not at all difficult, the hostel is in a very central area, so after work you can still explore Porto which is one of the best cities that I've ever been. Eternal gratitude for everything I experienced there, I will carry them forever in my memories :)

The hostel is clean and organized. As a volunteer, I found the cleaning routine to be tough, since volunteers represent the entire workforce. Third parties are hired to work only when there is a lack of volunteers. In addition, unfortunately, my computer and some other things were stolen from my room at the hostel, but this is not an accusation against the hostel, the police report was duly filed, I can share the document.Altough Daia and Ivete are kind people, I can see some opportunities for improvement in terms of decision-making, management, and safety.

I really don't know how to describe it, because Daiana and Dona Ivete are exceptional human beings. Tasks are very well divided and communicated, breaks are well planned and there is always flexibility for both parties obviously. You feel at home and the feeling of "ownership" and care that we have developed for the hostel goes beyond volunteering. I connected with many travelers, and several languages making my experience go to a higher level, I was able to learn and teach my own language too. About the location, there is no better!

I practiced my English and Spanish and met great people! Daiana and her mother are committed people and ensure that everything is always clean, orderly and working. I learned a lot. During the period of volunteering I made some suggestions, which were accepted, however some of my tasks and schedules were suddenly changed. I just believe it would be good have someone doing the night shift, because after the end of our shift and the departure of the owners, the volunteers become responsible for noise control, cooking and guest issues, even If we had worked all day.
