My experience at Hostel the hostel in Cádiz was absolutely amazing! The host is incredibly kind and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the very first day. The atmosphere at the hostel is vibrant, friendly, and full of positive energy. The tasks were simple and easy to manage, leaving plenty of time to explore the beautiful city of Cádiz. I met so many wonderful people during my stay, both travelers and locals, and made memories I'll cherish forever. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a warm, fun, and unforgettable volunteering opportunity!

This experience overall was not exactly what I was hoping for. I felt as if there was often little patience or empathy when I did not understand things, I came into this experience not having the greatest spanish skills, but wanting to improve and learn more. I was very excited about the opportunity to learn more, and I definitely did learn a lot and was able to communicate. But I often felt as if my inability to communicate clearly in Spanish was hindering my experience. That being said I would only recommend this experience to people who have a high level of spanish.

Alisson, we're sorry about your expectation, maybe if you had told the truth from the beginning about your Spanish level, things would have been different. We tried repeatedly and in different ways to help you understand and involve you in everything. It´s unfair to say we lacked patience or empathy in trying to help you. For anyone who wants to volunteer, wherever they are, being honest about your abilities is important so that no one gets frustrated.

If you're looking for a cultural or learning experience, this may not be the right place. The hostel runs like a business, with only volunteers and little support. You're expected to work like a full-time employee and may be asked to leave early if you don't perform. The owner is friendly with some, but impatient with others, creating an unstable environment. He has responded harshly to feedback before. Feel free to contact me for more details.

Fernando replied

Jorge, we're sorry but volunteering should be an enriching opportunity for everyone. We're always patient to repeatedly explain to you the tasks and we also understood when you missed your shift, which is 4 hours per day and 1 day off per week, as clearly stated and we adhered to the schedule. We offer cultural opportunities including trips to parties outside the hostel that you attended, because we do treat everyone equally. Everyone feel free to contact us with any questions.

I really enjoyed my stay in Cádiz. The working hours and tasks are really easy, Fernando always takes care of one and introduces you to the local life there. Sometimes it can be a little bit chaotic at the hostel but overall a good experience with amazing people. I didn't speak a single word of Spanish before arriving but after the month I was able to understand conversations and learned some basics. It definitely helps if you have some knowledge of Spanish. Gracias again for this experience :)

Fernando is a very kind host. I felt that it was important for him that I feel me comfortable. Evenmore he had always an open ear, if there was anything I needed. I really appreciate that he always helped me, when I asked him something, for example to translate my CV in Spanish and he gave me much information about Cádiz. On the one hand in general about the city and its history but as well, when I wanted to know something e.g. where I can find locations for dancing Salsa. One thing that I didn't like in the hostel was, that the building was really cold inside (my stay was in February).

The hostel is in the centre of Cadiz, so its position is very good. Fernando, Ago and Feña are amazing, although I've been with them for a short time, they have helped me since the first day I got there. The work in general is not difficult, there are some days were it's heavier because of the check-ins and out. If you are used to hostels, the accommodation is ok. I think that hostels are not for me, but it has been an amazing experience the same! I hope to come back soon to Cadiz, to enjoy other nights there! Thank you so much Fernando, it's been a pleasure and thank you for the gift!

As first experience as a volunteer it couldnt be better. The working hours are balanced leaving you lots of time to explore Cadiz and meeting people. The work is easy and straightforward. You can practice both your english and spanish. I felt welcomed by Fernando who facilitated the introduction to local places. I left with Cadiz in my heart! Hasta la vista Cadiz!
