The Experience

I look after retired racehorses in Co. Monaghan. I currently have 4 mares. The day starts off with an early morning feed. The horses are then turned out for the day and the next horse job is a feed at 9pm before the horses are turned out again for the night. Ocassionally if a horse is sick or has an injury it may be confined to it's stable so some mucking-out and feeding is required.

I had such a peaceful and amazing time with Ronald and his partner Chantal. They are very clear on tasks and very accommodating. They run everything very well and communication is clear. The 4 horses are lovely and manageable by one person. Instructions on how to take care of them were clear and easy to follow, especially by someone who has no horse experience. I learned a lot and really enjoyed my time. Would highly recommend to a person who genuinely can enjoy time alone and in nature.

The experience with Ronald and Chantal has been wonderful, they are super hospitable and pleasant and you can talk to them perfectly, on the other hand the house is beautiful and the tasks are very simple, taking care of the horses and little else. It is a beautiful place to disconnect and connect with nature and animals, I will definitely visit them again.

My experience at the home was, indubitably, delightful. Ronald is a wonderful, friendly and welcoming person; As soon as I arrived I felt comfortable and like I found my home away from home. I recommend this experience to anyone who enjoys a quiet retreat in the beautiful countryside and loves being around horses. My tasks were communicated thoroughly, mainly consisting of feeding the horses, cleaning out their stalls and doing housework. I definitely recommend this experience to others and I can't wait to return in the future!

My experience staying at the home with Ronald was absolutely amazing! This was my first Worldpackers experience and I highly recommend it for travellers who want to get in touch with nature, and like peace and quiet. All the tasks were exactly like communicated beforehand (mostly mucking out, feeding and watering the horses, and housework). Ronald was very accommodating, welcoming, thoughtful, flexible, and I couldn't ask for a cozier, more comfortable or beautiful house to stay in. I have videos on my IG page which document my experience if you would like a more detailed report. I LOVED IT

I really enjoyed my stay at Ronalds! He was so nice and told me what was expected of me during my stay at the start which I appreciated. The work was easy and the house was really nice, I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a quiet and calm stay.
