Christina was kind and welcoming, and the work itself was not too difficult. I really appreciated her parting gift and thoughtfulness. The main downside for me was breakfast — it was listed as included, but we weren't allowed to join the guest buffet. Instead we had to piece together what was in the kitchen, often very rushed. I think it would help a lot if volunteers could share in the buffet and have a clear 15 minutes set aside for a proper breakfast/coffee before starting cleaning, so we can keep our energy up. Also, for directions, make sure to use the exact coordinates.

Alvor is a beautiful and quiet place, there are many wonderful beaches near the town that are accessible by a short uber ride . About the program I have to say that the facilities are better than the pictures and the hosts are generally very welcoming and assisting . However, a should add that the hours of work are on average 4-5h and are task and not time oriented which depending on the number of volunteers means that you might have to work over five hours. The shifts start either at 8am or at 10am depending on your post and their duration may be different for each volunteer.

Cristina and Fabio were very kind hosts and it is clear that Cristina loves the guesthouse and wants to provide a lovely experience for the guests and the volunteers. However, the accommodations provided were a bit dirty and the work at the guesthouse often went later than 1pm which was the agreed upon end time.

I had high hopes for the experience considering the amazing reviews but it did not meet expectations of what is said in the listing. Hours were not always respected and I had to work 8am-1pm everyday while other volunteers only worked 10am-1pm. Cristina is nice and has good intention but is always in save mode; she just has a lot on her plate. Breakfast is not always consistent for some volunteers depending on your job for the day. The town is very small with not much to do but very beautiful beaches! Comfortable living quarters, and pretty clean.

I really enjoyed staying in Alvor. The work was easy to do and you picked up the tasks fast. Alvor is a cute town and the beach is reachable by foot, but I would not recommend staying longer than two weeks, because there is not a ton of stuff you can do. Overall a great experience!

I had a wonderful time in Alvor with Cristina! The city is quite small but very cute and there are a lot of activities and amazing places to visit nearby. The working hours were always respected and the tasks were quite easy to learn and Cristina was always very available for any question or request.I stayed in the accomodation that is a little bit far from the city centre but Alvor was easy to reach. The flat had everything we needed, the kitchen was well equipped.Cristina was an amazing host, she was lovely, extremely welcoming and always positive! I had a great time with the other volunteers!

This was my first volunteer experience and I had a lovely time! Cristina and Fabio were lovely and made you feel at home, the work was pretty easy and the same each day. Alvor is a cute village even if there isnt that much to do, but there are lots of buses to nearby towns like Portimao which are great to visit as well. The accommodation is nice as it had a kitchen, laundry and a pool even if it was a little far, the only thing I would say is that it could be more modernised. The other volunteers made the experience wonderful!

Cristina is a lovely person and was very welcoming to us the whole time we were there. She was very clear on the work that needed to be done everyday and it was never too hard or too long. Alvor is a great place although can be a bit quiet if you were there for more than 2 weeks.

This was the second period of volunteering Elliot and myself did. Cristina was an amazing host who continuously went out her way to ensure that we felt at home. Not one bad thing we could say about her or anyone else we worked with. The work hours were clearly defined and the work itself was easy. We were accommodated in a flat with other volunteers who also made the experience a lot more fun. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time in Alvor and would recommend it.
