Description
We request our volunteers to contribute 10 Euros per day to cover their accommodation and the transport to the shelter. They can cook their own meals in the communal kitchen, so food won't be a big expense (3-5 euros/day).

The Experience
We need volunteers to guarantee a good level of welfare to our cats and dogs in our shelters! Please come and help! Your task will be primarily to walk the dogs and to play with them, brush and cuddle them and check that they are in good health, especially the puppies. We have paid staff to clean and feed the animals, but sometimes special care is needed.

I really enjoyed my time in Mindelo and I wish I could extend, but unfortunately I have to get back🥹 The work with the animals is amazing and the work that you do is so important! The hostel is very busy and there is always work to do! The host is an amazing hardworking and passionate woman who I only can respect so so much. Her dedication to the work gave me motivation like I hadn't experienced before. Next to this she's an amazing sweet person and a host that I would absolutely recommend! If you want to make a difference in a beautiful country with lovely people; come join the organization!!❤️

The NGO Si Ma Bô, the protection and shelter of abandoned animals in Mindelo, island of São Vicente (Cape Verde), was my first experience in volunteering. I found a dedicated team that struggles to get the job done and that is changing the way the whole community treats the animals - dogs and cats - on the street. It was a tiring, but rewarding job. Silvia and Paolo Manzoni are dedicated and passionate people for what they do. Being a volunteer at Si Ma Bô was an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend it.

The organization is a very good association doing very important work for the animals in the island, you will get to know their work and see for yourself how needed their presense is! I worked in the dogshelter, walking and helping to take care of the dogs staying there. You can truly feel the happiness you bring the dogs when you come to their rooms with the leashes and how calm and satisfied they are when you finish walking them. The friends you will make with other volunteers and workers in the organization is also a big plus. Was an overall great experience!
