The Experience

You will be involved in general front-desk activities: check-in/out of guests etc. Our hostel is unique in the sense that their space combined the first architectural style of the neighborhood with a contemporany offer, bringing the present together with the past of the history of Bogota. It's located in one of the most strategical spots in the city, this because all the offer is surround the property or is pretty close.

The hostel is an amazing place to connect with international travelers and it's very well located. An 8 hours shift is a lot and one night I worked for 10 hours until 2am to solve a cash register problem caused by another volunteer because the way the hostel organizes itself digitally is very old fashioned. Also the hostel installments were pretty uncomfortable and internet connection is pretty slow. I don't have anything bad to say about Juan, he always arrives at the hostel with great energy and respects everybody's space, plus the breakfast is Delicious! Thanks for the opportunity.

I had a great time volunteering at the hostel, Juan is very friendly and helpful and the working hours leave plenty of time to explore Bogotá. If your native language isn't Spanish you will be working the night shift which means you will probably miss breakfast and makes it harder to experience the night life. The shifts themselves though just consist of manning the reception and are very relaxed. The hostel itself is quite quiet but with a team of 6 volunteers it is always sociable. I had plenty of opportunities to practice my spanish and I made some good friends.

I had a great time working at the hostel. The night shift was pretty laid back and easy to handle. I connected really well with the other volunteers and will miss them lots :( I feel like I should've stayed a bit longer than 2 weeks as well!
