The Experience

Join our front office team at Green Elephant Backpackers in Cape Town. We’re looking for volunteers with previous hostel reception experience to help welcome guests, manage check-ins and reservations, answer questions, and support daily front desk operations. This is a hands-on role in a social, international backpackers environment, perfect for confident volunteers who enjoy guest interaction and teamwork.

The staff and hosts of the host are incredible. The accommodations are great and comfortable, and they have recently updated the bedding and other things. Clean facilities and hot showers. Overall, I built relationships with a lot of locals. I ran into some small issues with other guests that were largely unavoidable, and the hosts were incredible at supporting me.

It was a really nice experience volunteering at the host with Roslynne and Rémy. They have been doing an important job putting this hostel back on track. They have also built an amazing team, with great people, Jerome, Leon, Tazz, Johnatan, Lucy, and the rest of them. They not only taught me about painting and fixing, but about local culture and personal experience which I enjoyed I highly recommend this place, it is well located, cozy and full of welcoming people

I volunteered here for 2 weeks and LOVED IT. all the staff here were AMAZING and so fun and i became such good friends with them. Thursdays we had a big lunch get together and everyone got a huge free lunch. The beds were always so clean and fresh and so comfortable. Security wise they have a security company in the corner of the street and if you ever feel unsafe, you can call them up and free of charge they will have someone escort you !! Recommended!! Made a second family here.
