we have a small family garden in the west part of Kathmandu next to the Monkey temple. We live all 5 generation of Newari indigenous to the Kathmandu valley together in a compound (Peter home/sunny hometay) and share a garden and grow our food and share with our neighbor's. like my ancestors been doing for long time. so we will be very glad to share our knowledge and learn from you. while we share our food and culture with all of you.

I stayed with Nischal and his family for 1 month and had an amazing time. As a 1st time solo traveller, i wasnt sure what to expect but i felt so incredibly welcomed and this made such a difference for my time here. Nischal is a great host, ive had so much fun going out on the bike with him, and i can definitely call him a friend. I was also able to take part in 2 of the tours that his company provides (annapurna base camp and a 1 day bike tour) and i had the most fantastic time with both, easily the highlights of my time in Nepal so if you stay with Nischal you need to check them out.

Do yourself a favor and stay with Nischal and his family during your stay in Kathmandu. I came right during festival season and was included in all the family ceremonies and celebrations, and made to feel at home and welcome from day one. The daily work usually takes less than half an hour, and can be done at the volunteers pace and convenience. As a first time volunteer and solo traveler Nischals home has been the perfect base for exploring a new city and culture. No complaints, dhanyabad🙏

Nischal has the most beautiful, loving family - all of whom ensured I had a brilliant week staying in their home. The work was very easy (just 30 minutes feeding chickens), but there was lots of fun to be had, even in the smallest of moments. Nischal is always there to ensure you're enjoying yourself and having a good time. Their daughter Sunny is utterly adorable, and I had many memorable moments interacting with her and the family. Roshika also cooks some of the best food I ate in Nepal! Highly recommend if you want to appreciate some slow living away from the bustling streets.

Sunny Homestay was incredible! I spent a week helping with cutting up cauliflower scraps for the chickens and planting rice. Nischal's family was so warm — his mom even walked me to get my ears pierced, and his dad showed me the hidden community gym. Despite hosting 100+ travelers, they made everyone feel special. I loved bonding with other travelers and watching their sweet 2-year-old's curious energy light up the multi-gen home. Truly unforgettable hospitality and a beautiful cultural exchange! One heads-up: it was a bit hot in the rooms (but it was summertime, and I do tend to run hot).

Had a great time at Sunny Homestay with Nischal and his family! Brekkie + dinner were provided and both were adequate. Everyone was extremely friendly and the other volunteers and I had plenty of free time to explore Kathmandu on our own. It was also really cool to witness a few Nepali festivals and discover some great local eats during my stay. The work was varied but always easy. A small downside is that there's no wifi in the bedrooms but you can always go downstairs to get reception. As long as you're flexible, this is a solid place to stay in KTM.
